provoking vs thought provoking.

That is what most fanatical organisations aim to do ,, provoke you before your thinking gets provoked , so if u get provoked just sit back take a deep breath and read it again and then again think from the other person's view and then think from your view and reply. simple.

if you really want to profile people who sexually harass women (i still think it's virtually pointless from a practical point of view), why not do it on all these demographic details, rather than pick the most contentious one and make a poll entitled "are muslims more likely to eve tease than hindus".

hey marko , chillout dude.

havent you yet noticed that the dbs are for people like us who just want to heard , so then you get all kinds of views and reviews. so all you have to do is just sit back and not reply to posts which you think are really stupid or reply back like you did and sit back and watch..simple either way.:)

Mark, You're most welcome to have a poll based on other demographics. I have backed up my poll with ample decent reasoning. It is not a random bigoted question. That demographic is what I happen to be interested in.

And you may well equate it to racial profiling, but I have defended myself well on a lonely street many a time because I decided to be prepared(with Mace in hand) based solely on the approaching man's appearance. Hey that perhaps sounds even more bigoted than the poll question, but you know what, that's the sad truth of modern life. You often have nothing but appearances to go on. And for sure, it annoys me when people judge me on my appearance but I know full well where they're coming from, and if it doesnt cause me any actual hurt(physical or emotional) they're free to do what they want.

i'm as chilled as i get Reality. I'm just giving my view.

s, i'm not interested in profiling eve teasers, as i don't believe any good can come out of it, on the whole.

sorry for continuing to argue this, I just cant stand it when people feel the urge to put a label on people and put them in a box. people don't fit in boxes, we're all too different for that. You say that you defended yourself well based on being prepared cos of appearance S, but i'm sure you know you're statistically far more likely to be assaulted or killed by a person known to you, i.e. family member etc.

lies, damn lies, and statistics. i'll say no more

Dress right. Walk right. Feel right. Be tough and show it. Body language should be such that you do not invite such filth around you. Take some martial arts' classes and you would know the difference.

What exactly are u suggesting Madam? If u r a girl, alone, and u have a bunch of hooligans trying to act cheap, what do u do? Martial Arts is not exactly the best solution then.

I'm just being practical here. When u r alone just ignore the b#%!#*#%. When u r in a group, things are different. Teach him/them a lesson he/they wont forget in a hurry.

I totally agree with CAD when he says lots of guys just can't take it when they are overtaken by a girl. I've been riding to the workplace for 2 1/2 yrs now and I can vouch for that. Fragile egos I guess

I was at a traffic signal, one morning and there were these 2 guys behind me who kept passing lewd comments. As much as I was furious, there was a feeling of helplessness bcoz I cudn't do much except keep a safe distance from them. U cant really make a 'tamasha' of it at a traffic signal. Did travel to college in our RTC buses for a short while and thank God we have separate seats in the front.

Somebody rightly mentioned, its hell in cities like Delhi where using public transport every day is a horrifying experience for ladies.

Madam Hyderabadi aurat, I certainly dont think that women are the 'weaker sex' and need to silently suffer but when I said what I said, it was out of practical experience. Take it or leave it. Peace.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

...thats true...many girls from the north side, esp delhi, were very appreciative of the city busses' ladies seat concept...they said it was relief to travel here without constantly looking out for a stray male fingers or elbows...:)

OHHHH.....A good discussion. Tremendous scope for arguments where was I !!!!.

I have not read through all the posts so my apologies if all that I am gonna pen has already been discussed.

EVE teasing is sick.

Its a complete degradation of a human beings mind and his lack of capacity to think.

What I have noticed over a period is eve teasing becomes a habit. Staring and glancing turns to Ogling and teasing. This is prevalent not only in Hyderabad but all across the globe.

- The Indian Factor.

1.Eve teasing is not considered a taboo.

It makes me sick to the gut when parents defend their children by saying. "Haan ab nahi to kab karega?"

2. Glorification of the vice by Bolly/tolly/Woods.

The glorification in the Indian Cinema leads the society to believe that its normal. Most youth considering eve teasing the only way too woo a girl.

(Not talking about Holly wood. Which is one step ahead with nudity and pornography.)

- Hyderabadi factor.

Yes I have noticed that the Muslim population in Hyderabad does indulge more in this then any other. Why?

1. Probably Hyderabad is populated with them.

2. The vices of nawabiyat have carried on. (Total disrespect for woman)

3. Not only that the present generation role players for Hyderabadi youth. (Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, X Khan, Y Khan,.......)

4. And the largest factor, emulation. I have seen multiple occasions where hindu, christian guys have used muslim names to woo/tease girls. A general belief that girls are attracted to them :-(.....donno why. Maybe its the Khan factor effect from bollywood on the girls tooo.

Generalizing Muslims and citing old city would be wrong. If that’s the case have you been to,

Garodia Nagar, Pant nagar, Bahav nagar.

Shudder shudder......Bihar / Uttaranchal. The comments here would make you feel as if you are walking naked on the streets.

Girls from there would feel that Old city respects women too much.
