#6 You are in a room with 2 doors leading out. Behind 1 door is a coffer overflowing with jewels and gold, along with an exit. Behind the other door is an enormous, hungry lion that will pounce on anyone opening the door. You do not know which door leads to the treasure and exit, and which door leads to the lion. In the room you are in are 2 individuals. The first is a knight, who always tells the truth, and a knave, who always lies. Both of these individuals know what is behind each door. You do not know which individual is the knight, or which one is the knave. You may ask one of the individuals exactly 1 question. What should you ask in order to be certain that you will open the door with the coffer behind it, instead of the hungry lion?

Correct! That is very close to the answer.



There are a few different strategies. I will give the easiest one:



He will switch one bulb ON for a long time, then turn it OFF, so naturally it will be hotter than the ones which were OFF.



He will then switch another bulb ON, then go inside the room.



Thus now he can easily make out the bulb:



One bulb is ON, so he know the switch to this one.

One bulb is OFF, but it is hot, so he knows the switch to that one too.

The last switch is of the bulb which was not turned ON at all.

For clarity sake,let the Knight be CAD...n Knave be Raj.....Person in the Room is Mark....CAD is a Truth-Teller....Raj is a consumnate Liar.....Mark does'nt know that...Door A leads to Jewels...Door B to the Lion....



Mark Asks:"If i asked the other guy, which door are the jewels behind, what would he say?"



If Person is CAD,he'll say "Door B"..coz Raj is a liar and he'll point to the wrong door & CAD has to tell the truth.

If Person is Raj,he'll say "Door B" ...coz he has to lie...CAD will surely answer Door A...but if Raj says the same then he speaks the truth,but he has to lie,therefore he says "Door B"



So Mark receives the same answers from both....thinking a moment...he opens Door A....ignores the Jewels/Diamonds...and walks away to his Freedom....

your simplification of the situation makes it more complicated YCR
