First drop sandbags, then gas tanks in desperation, still haven’t enough height to clear it, so they draw straws to see who has to jump out. The guy who draws the short straw jumps to his death, the others escape over the mountain

Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.
