Well its grass is being relaid coz of which the Boxing DAy match may not b played there for the first time in its history. (agnst. Pak I guess)

1.In military terms, what does the JDAM stand for.

2. What is the significance of patton nagar

3. Which is the first truly super sonic plane plane in IAF service

4. Why is the IAF squadron trisonics named so?

2. Something with Indo-pak war, close enough. Whats the something?

3. Way off

4. Trisonics = 3 * speed of sound alright, but my question is why is it named trisonics.

No AFAIK we got a Sukhoi's recently.MIG-21 were the nearest to supersonic speed.It has to be the MIG-29.Then again I may be wrong. :D

Its Mig 21. Its the first true supersonic fighter in service. Although the hawker hunters in service before Mig 21 could go supersonic in a dive, only Mig 21's could do so in level flight.

As for sukhoi's, IAF procured Sukhoi 7 ground attack fighters after 1971.

Tejas is LCA which is still under development and not in operational service yet.

The squadron is called Trisonics because it is the only squadron to operate the now phased out Mig 25's, the only plane which could do speeds > Mach 3 (although it never did)

Aussies were the first ones to successfully test scram jet. Several countries, including India are working on it.
