there is a vada too....its a dark brown, hard disk. a chewy and tasty vada actually. u get it only in temples.

I have been to a temple but not tirupati.You know SriSailam and some other stuff in hyd.

yeh....the main reason i go to temples is the prasad....esp. in the southindian temples...its very tasty....puliogare is yummy!

found this recipe in sulekha

hope this is the one you are looking for

Ingrediants

1 cup urad dal

3 cups rice

3 red chilis

1 tsp jeera

a pinch of hing

salt to taste

Process

Mix rice and urad dal together and grind them in dry grinder to a coarse(like sooji)powder.

Take pan dry roast red chilis and jeera for 2-3 mins.Put them in dry grinder and grind them, add hing to chili powder.

Soak rice and urad dal mixer in the(Ex :1 cup flour 3 cups water ) water for 4-5 hours.

Then mix the batter thoroughlybatter should be similar to idli consistency.

Then add salt and ground red chili powder,mix well.Keep aside. Heat a pan put 1 tsp oil,pour some amount of batter on the pan and cover it.Allow it cook for 4-5 mis on low flame.

After 5 mins turn roti the other side,let it fry for 3 or 4 mins.

Remove from the pan,Serve hot or cool with coconut chutney or pickle. Variation We can put ground ginger and green chili instead of red chili powder.
