Q:How did the car “ Mercedes” get its name?

it was named after a lady....the daughter of the director or something like dat
Mercedes is a Spanish word meaning grace, and was the name of the daughter of Ex-Austrian Counsel General Emil Jellinek. He was substantially responsible for popularizing the car and hence the name after his daughter.

Q:Which computer term is derived from the latin word for running?

Mercedes is Mr.Benz's daughter, AFAIK. Benz invented the first IC engine and the first car.

I beg to differ MM sir.

Emil Jellinek was the Austro-Hungarian consul in France, who had the rights to sell Daimler's cars in Austria, Hungary, France and USA. Mercedes was the name used by Jellinek to sell Daimler's cars, and was in fact the name of his daughter. He decided to re-name the cars, as Germanic-sounding names were unpopular in France at the time for political reasons.
