ok this thread is being resurected cos Ireland are currently beating Scotland in the 6 nations, despite missing our star centres. GO ON IRELAND!!!!!! (man i've been here 4 months, this is the first time i really wish i was in a pub back home)

icould someone do me a big favour? turn on star sports (all the sports stations actually) and tell me if the match is on there (you'll know it, large men in green and blue shirts trying to kill each other and chasing an oval ball)? i don't have cable but i will get it if they show the games)

IRELAND FOR THE GRAND SLAM!!!

man that has urban legend written all over it. got any credible links to that?

The British Lions are touring NZ over the summer. We should get a few players on the team (O'Driscol for sure, that guy is magic)

Not sure about southern hemi teams coming up north, if the lions are south theres not much point in coming north (why the hell is the british and irish combined team called the Lions? i don't know about the UK, but there's no lions in ireland. that's one of the defining characteristics of our country)

thats nuts (pardon the pun)

on rugby league, its a very different game, for me i feel it's not as intellegent a game as union. i've seen a few games, but i don't enjoy watching it. it's like the entire team is made up of fowards (the ONLY rugby union forward i've ever been fantical about is Keath Wood)

yup i agree..

it is a very different game, i totally agree with u that it is not as intelligent a game as union, and definitely it is only the forwards and the 2 lone full back who rule the game. but the thing is that i started following rugby with league, so i kind of have a soft corner for it

dats cool, even league is superior to most team sports out there. the thing i love about rugby in general is that 1 player who is best in the world in that position will not swing games, depth of skill in a team is much more important.

yeah he's an exceptional player, but he only swung games cos of the massive pack England had at the time, awesomely talented forwards.

I was in budapest when england won the wc, i was disgusted at the result (but glad i was out of london for the weekend)

ps the pommes just lost to France!! the french were shite, playing like they didn't care, england were 17-6 up at halftime, the game ended 17-18 to france. as the commentator said "France have managed to win without ever looking like there was even the remote possibility of scoring a try"

actually thats not so good for Eire, we have to face an England team with a lot to prove in 2 weeks time. At least it's at home, and we'll have our star players back for it.
