i actual unadultrated hinduism, sex is not a sin. no hindu religious text calls sex a sin. its only prohibited for ppl in pursuit of God so that they are not distracted.

hinduism treats sex as any other bodily function as eating, breathing and sleeping and lays stress on using it properly for pleasure as well as procreation (ie for having kids). Sexuality was one of the subjects taught to students in the ashram schools of ancient India.

since last couple of centuries, its become a taboo mainly due to Islamic and Christian influences on Indian society.

Or how about those who have an accent after spending a week, maybe a few months in pardes? I remember some folks being surprised at the lack of an American accent in my English even after being away for more than 16 years. Not to say my English is not accented.....

quote="SimarikSmokin"]Ok now i know am i the only one who notices these details in indian movies? ok they say they are from london or America how come when we hear them talking in english no accent???? i mean seriously? i lost my accent???

Like in Mujhe Dosti Karogi he boy moves to "London" when he is like what 12 and its the 1980's right he read Archie Comics when they weren'nt out till like 1996 and that little girl has a Apple computer when those computers didn't come out till 1999-2000.

Seriously if you are from america you would have a little bit accent.

But i guess I LOST MY ACCENT![/quote]

Alexis, I don't quite agree. What is wrong with pre-marital sex? Is sex a sin? And if it is then how come it is not a sin anymore once you tie the knot with someone?

However, the sex has to be consensual.

Pre-marital sex is a sin in ISLAM. And Sharjeel is Muslim......so.....

God is one. So the rules that govern the world should be one too. I don't understand the concept of something being a sin in one religion and acceptable in another. The very fact that on one hand we say that we believe in a single God and on the other hand we follow umpteen religions is unpalatable. Religions are teachings of humans and its just faith that makes us see them as the word of God. How can somethign be a sin in islam and not in other religions? If God's edict is against something, shouldn't it be a sin in all religions?

cos Koran is God s word, written by god (got to get my facts right, dont know if it is god or muhammed) all the books before that had interpretations of people who changed god s word according to their whims and fancies.
so what i think is that, god might have said to the others as well that premarital sex is a sin, but still they gave in to it and changed god s word accordingly. and thereafter god sent the last messenger in the form of muhammed to correct it.

but again, what i dont understand is that, if premarital sex or having a baby without marriage is sin, how come god filled the womb of Mary without her being married?
and the other thing is that, did Mary remain a virgin all her life that we still call her virgin mary. then how come Jesus had blood siblings?

and hey no offence. this is what i intereprated from my knowledge of the various 'story books'

With respect to the Koran, it mentions the "original text" in quite a few verses. The "original text" is also mentioned as having four volumes. No prizes for guessing what the "original text" is. Anyways....if you say that the Koran is God's word...it automatically implies that Allah must have passed it on to someone for it to become part of this material world. That's where the glitch is. Every prophet was finally a human being and all religious texts are open to human interpretation. We cannot be absolutely sure that the particular text that we are following is God's word to the T.

Its been ages, but the first chapter of Koran is only to confirm the genuineness of the book and in it, God actually challanges any living being to write a text of that great length with that accuracy. And he also says that the book is his will.

as against the bible which is the interpretation of 4 different people and the testaments which have been written by several people over ages.

i am not here to confirm god s will or even to think about the concept of God, which i have a tough time thinking about. just my opinion from what i read.

And since Eve was made from the ribs of Adam, The first humans were clones and technically Adam is a hermaphrodite.

Hinduism differs a bit here. After a great deluge (what we call 'pralay'), there were two survivors in Manu and Shradha. And from them, we all have descended.

As per Hinduism, this is a constant cycle. At the end of every Yug (there are four - Satyug, Dwapar, Treta, and Kalyug), comes in a deluge where the earth is cleansed of the sinners.

There is supposed to be a time period of something like 14 lakh earth years that made up Satyug. 28 lakh made dwapar, 42 lakh made treta, and kalyug is supposed to be for 56 lakh years. They all sum up to about 140 lakh years. And these 140 lakh years equal one day in heaven! And, this whole cycle just keeps on repeating.

PS: It has only been 2500 odd years since Kalyug began - so there is a long time before the earth is cleansed again!
Nothing travels faster than light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.

why dont u guys believe in darwin?I prefer to accept the fact that my ancestors were apes than to think that they mated with their own parents.

And hey, there are instanes in the old and the new testament where fathers mated with their daughters for progeny.

There is no glitch, Gods word was passed on to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through Archangel Gabriel (pbuh). Since the prophet was illiterate, he memorized the words and dictated them to scholars who wrote the words down exactly as God sent them down. So much as a punctuation mark has remained unchanged and will remain so till eternity.

The Quran was NOT written by God or Muhammad (swt)

The exact words of God were memorized by the Prophet and written by scholars.[/b]
