no offence,

but from what i think, thru worldwide statistics., the minorities in any given place have the psychological feeling of being mistrested or oppressed by the majority, which may or may not be true, as in the case of the eastern european countries and the sunni/shia clashes thruout the islamic world.

this i guess is the main reason for people to over react when someone from the minority community is blamed, they tend to go defensive as in the case of teh mullah being arrested by the gujrath police.

in the case of the shankaracharya, he belongs to the majority and the only reason normal people(leaving fanatics asside) do not take to violence or protests is that there is every chance that he could be guilty and if he is not, which the courts will eventually decide, he would still have the same respect what he had before.

SHANKARACHARY'S ARREST

by KARNASRI » Mon Nov 15, 2004 8:26 am

IN GENERAL TERMS THE FOLLWOING THINGS ARE SURE:

-HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED IN A PROPER WAY.

-ALL BELIEVE THAT THE BEST PALCE TOPROVE IS AT THE COURT.

- PEOPLE ARE HAPPY THAT THE REACTION FROM THE MAJORITY COMMUNITY WAS A VERY ENCOURAGING MANNER EXCEPT FOR FEW vhp GOONS.

-NOW ONLY THE MEDIA PLAYS A POSITIVE ROLE AND NOT ENCOURAGE THE COMMUNISTS IDIOTS TO PLAY A MAJOR ROLE

-COMUNISTS PEOPLE WIL NEVER COMMENT ON INCIDENTS LIKE MULLAH'S ARREST IN HYDERABAD OR THE NAXALITES DEMAND FOR THE GUNS BUT THEY WILL COME IMMEDIATELY IF IT HAS TO DO WITH HINDUS- VERY FUNNY RED CHAPS

-SO LET US WAIT FURTHER FOR THIS SUSPENSE TO UNFOLD AND TRY TO DISCUSS ONLY ON NET OR MEDIA.

Lucifer wrote:I do not know what people here meant by "GUJARAT POLICE". Like the same members said, everyone is "Innocent till proven guilty" don't the police get the same treatment? No court has indicted the Gujarat Police for what happened in the riots - one or two police officers might have been but that does not mean that the whole corps is guilty. That would be like saying all muslims are terrorists just because Osama Bin Laden is one.
Yes I said "GUJRAT POLICE" in quotes because I wanted to show why few Muslims in hyderabad created trouble on the arrest of the Mullah. Mind you few.. not all.

Lucifer wrote:Secondly, that Mullah is known to have links with the ISI. Besides, the man was in Police custody. How can anyone justify the mob attacking the commissioner's office to secure his release?
There was no justification. I was comparing why the followers of the mullah attacked the Police convoy to try and snatch the Mullah from the poilce and the followers of seer havent come out on the street. What the mullah followrs did was wrong and they paid the price. ONE DEAD & SEVERAL OTHERS INJURED.

Lucifer wrote:How can people be allowed to take the law in their own hands?
That was wrong and they did pay the price for that. I think the AP police did a good job of containing the trouble.

Lucifer wrote:This was the Deccan Chronicle Headline on that day:

Modi Police arrests...

Is DC trying to say that the Police are on the CMs payroll and not on the Gujarat Government's? Just because the person arrested was a muslim did they have to give this a communal connotation? And, that despite the man in question being an ISI agent? Is this what our press can stoop to to just sell a few extra copies a day? And, then when the Seer is arrested there is nothing - just silence. Why?
Yes DC did stoop down to the hades to try to sell a few copies more.
DC has been know to write catchy headlines and resort to down and dirty tricks to sell their paper. Just open up the third page of any DC, you will find all the perverse news items, news that appeals to the animal side of a human. This is not good conscientious journalism. I dont expect this from a major daily.

Lucifer wrote:Just because he is from a majority community and can a majority community can be wronged?
This case is not about hurting a community. If the Seer was arrested for doing religious work that is just, then it would have been communal injustice.

The Seer was arrested under the suspicion of commiting a murder... murder to what end, maybe it was for the good of the temple and people, but a crime is a crime and he should be prosecuted for that. Not just by the law but by the Hindu governing council and it should be a fair trial. Mind you a HINDU man was killed and the Seer's name has come up in it.

Its too ealry to say anything, the court will decide.

And the police will not do anything stupid, since he is one of the main leader of hindu people.

what is proper

The first is the manner of his arrest. I don't personally see any "proper" way to arrest a person. You're arresting him, not exactly inviting him to your daughter's wedding ball. So, I think the police did what they had to do without any frills.

I dont know about the wedding ball invitation part but definitely i have an idea of the son-in-law treatment syndrome prevalent when they arrest high profiled politicians. They are cordially escorted, enjoy the worldly comforts and are free to interact with outsiders at will, so its better we dont talk about how the police do their duty

Well even u agree that the timing was wrong so that was what i had mentioned the timing could have been more proper.

Yes Mr Dogmatic nothing to blame u for this. Exactly everyone thinks the

same way ki no special packages should be attached while arresting

the big heads. But when we try to categorize this we would definitely

agree to the fact that there would be two units, the first unit being the

big brainless, senseless gooses(politicians) and the second unit comprising

of all other normal people including us all.

when we talk about the first unit again there are two parts to this

one some what good category and the rest

Swamiji in this case falls under the some what good category

of this first unit. As we all know ki when big heads who

does not fall into some what good category are arrested five star

packages are attached with each arrest, when u agree to this fact

why did such a thing happen to swamiji

I agree with enigma saying ki it was not the proper way of arresting

when infact the guilt is not been proved yet.
