Contrary to what you might feel after watching the promos of the latest offering from Ritu Parno Gosh, the Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devagn staring – Rain Coat has brilliant music. The songs are classical to the last line of the textbook rule. Almost negligible use of percussions and songs rendered by the best in the classical music business – Hariharan and Shubha Mudgal.
Raincoat is a collectors item, it is so very different from the conventional ‘Dil mera deewana..’ type songs. All the songs are brilliantly rendered with ease, despite the difficult lyrics. Purchase, only if you like simple songs with meaningful lyrics. Purchase only if you have the habit of listening to good music, alone. Not with your brat friends who wait for the slightest opportunity to declare the composition a pain in the butt. But, would listen to the same song when they are alone!
Raincoat is for those who want to be alone with music, may be on a drive or on a low profile Saturday night alterative. I am sure the movie would be good because such films are bound to be commercial flops, hence they are made as art movies for awards. Such movies usually are perfect in direction.
