What is it like working in HYD?

Specially the IT sector. Is it fairly relaxed atmosphere or do you have to start the day with, "Good Morning Sir!"?

most of the big Indian companies and MNCs have quite a relaxed environment at work, with varying degrees of 'ease' in each. the popular culture is to be on a first name basis at all levels of the hierarchy so there is hardly any "Good morning Sir" and all that!



in smaller or conservative companies, the hierarchy is to be respected and there is no question of addressing yr boss by his/her first name. but these days such companies are very few, esp in the IT sector.



one thing most companies insist on is a formal dress-code monday thru thursday, with smart casuals or informals on fridays.

. but chicks always get to do all the fun things . Can't we men walk around naked? always been a fantasy of mine to do that.

We had a classmate called Amarjeet Singh (Makhkhi) who used to get into unusual bets. Once when we were in another school to play a hockey tournament, Makhkhi bet a student of the host school that he can parade naked from the dormitories to the basketball courts (a 2Km distance-passing many dorms, teachers' quarters, classrooms and the works) for a price of 500 bucks and won the bet. Needless to say, he was sent back and our team penalised 2 points. And needless to say, we won the tournament.

every company has disgruntled employees who crib about how they are stuck with that company. so one really cant say which IT firms are the best to work for.

about mine, i'd say being a huge MNC, its lending weight to my resume and pay is not bad too. what i dislike about my company is the occassional red tapism i encounter...aaaarrrgh... and also lack of importance to employees' family ties. there are no events where we can take the whole family and show them what we do...most companies have that these days.

Red tapism exists in all big companies... I am not quite sure it is something that's unique to Hyderabad. Some smaller companies do lay emphasis on work life balance and definitely have family events. And they definitely have no bureaucracy whatsoever. Please note: I am talking of some small MNCs, not all.

The only thing I dislike about my company is lack of profit and hence no pay rises. Apart from that there is not much I can crib about. We are allowed flexi time within limits, same with surfing the net/msn, free anual xmas party, can show family around - no family day as such - just let your boss know, chatting/having fun is not frowned upon etc etc etc

those are the things that makes the workplace a happy place...but for how long. in the long run if the company doesnt please the employees monetarily, no one wud stick around.

Oh well... I've never been the disc going type... so I don't know if people get roasted inside or not... but Fireball is one of the hottest (no pun intended) discos in Delhi... at least it was 5 years ago.
