both, actually. Ramadhan is mostly used for the stronger Arabic pronounciation.

Happy Ramzan guys. One of the local restaurants here is giving out haleem at 99 cents a plate. For those living in Chicago, try Gareeb Nawaz on W Devon. I don't know how it tastes though.

I guess Veggie Haleem is not a bad idea. Give the pure-Vegs a taste of what they are missing

. But still think that Haleem is too imprtant a thing to be trifled with.

still it cant come close to the real thing...sadly i dont eat haleem anymore since i gave up mutton a few yrs ago

saw a goat being killed on Bakrid at a friend's house and cudn't make myself eat mutton since then. but i stil remember the taste of haleem....unforgettable!

Im a vegetarian for a couple of days after bakrid, when Im in India around the time too cuz I watch the sacrifices.

Thankfully, I get the images outta my head. Meat is just too good to give up.

Chicken haleem is so yum! Esp the way my moms makes it

I love any Haleem, its just such an addictive dish. Gotta try that vegetarian haleem.

dunno why but i cant see these things. after that incident whenever a mutton dish was put in front of me, i used to see that goat's face and lose interest in eating it...

then i took the easy route and stopped eating mutton. may be its because i am a natural vegetarian and took to occasaional non-veg just to satisfy the glutton in me... :roll:

in future if i happen to see a hen being killed i am sure i'll stop eating chicken....

The only time I eat Mutton is during Ramzan. Rest of the time i prefer Chicken.

Haleem is simply too tasty to b missed. My mom had warned me not to eat Non-Veg till Dassera is over. But I couldn`t stop myself :oops:

You just have to ignore it. It has just been proved that plants also feel pain, so maybe we should do something about that too, then.

Off topic, but for everyones information:

The whole procedure of the muslim sacrifice (the unnatural way in which the cut is made) is done so as to drain the blood from the body of the animal. This makes it a lot safer to eat. If we just lop the head off, then all the blood remains in the body and this type of meat is bad to eat because blood contains many impurities.

Also, when we partly cut the jugular, the blood is slowly drained from the body and the organs shut down because the nervous system is still connected and the brain can shut off the organs. While if we cut the head off in one blow, then the organs still function as they do not get the signal to shut down since the brain has no time to give the instruction. So, the muslim way of sacrifice is much better scientifically.

That was too graphic, but it is good information.
