Welcome to FHDB! You will love it here, esp with all the nice people.

Thats a nice selection of books (esp Rich Dad, Poor Dad). You seem to be reading too many of motivational books. While it is a good thing, you may become too methodical and self-analytical.

I am not so into fiction, prefer to read non-fiction, but comics are a big weakness; have the Ist editions of Spiderman and a few others, all purchased from Koti (just have to look hard enough).

I read a series of books by Life Nature Library or something like that. The series focused on nature and Geo and Earth, etc. I hae read The Ocean, The Sea, The Mammals, The Fish, The Birds, The Universe. I think they were published by the Discovery magazine. Then I've read snippets from the (auto)biographies of Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hiter, Bruce Lee, and some others.

I also am a huge fan of RD, having read alomost every digest from 1985 onwards (both the indian and overseas edition). RD is fully recommended to any bookworms.
"Consequences, shmonsequences! So long as I'm rich!" - Daffy Duck.

Great thread, Charu!

I absolutely love books, too! I even dedicated a thread to Favorite Books long ago...

I currently read the newest David Eddings novel, The Elder Gods. I am waiting for the second one > The Treasured One. He is one of few fantasy authors I read. Although, his new series is not at par with his classic ones.

I am going to check out Nelson Mandela soon. His autobiography and his favorite African folk tales.

Happy Reading :)

Hi charu welcome, welcome.

U know, once upon a time i was mad on books both medical and general. During my college days,I had to buy costly medical books . Now a days thanks to the CD culture. I buy an empty CD for Rs 11 in parklane shenoy trade center. Copy the whole book contents for Rs nothing.

Thanks for the CD inventer.

Well Well Well

We sure have a bookworm here. Charu....at the cost of being blunt, let me ask you something. Do you really read the books you've mentioned there? or are they just coffee-table literature?

I mean, you cannot follow whats given in Who moved my cheese? and The power of positive thinking at the same time. They prescribe two opposite approaches towards life.

Anyways...I've already described my favourite reads in the thread with the poll....but since its too long by now, here it is again.

Fiction :

Anything by Frederick Forsyth (except for short story collections); a couple of books by Grisham, Hailey and some other thrillers.

R.K.Narayan's stories.

Khushwant Singh's joke books.

Non-Fiction :

1. Horse Sense, Marketing Warfare, The 22 immutable laws of marketing & Positioning by Al Ries & Jack Trout

2. Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig

3. The Peter Principle by Dr.Lawrence J. Peter

4. Man's Eternal Quest, Autobiography of a Yogi & The Divine Romance by Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

good work going on..

ya, i very very much read the books which i have mentioned in my list.

iam not following what is given in Who moved my cheese?[/b] and The power of positive thinking,,,, iam following what i think is right and correct for me, books are meant only to give me guidelines not to direct me what i have to do, anyways if u really want to get inspired and follow books rules, i suggest you to read monk who sold his ferrari, which explains in a perfect manner the 7 rules for a happy and successful career, personal life.
completed fountain head, good book
planning to read count ur chickens before they hatch by arindham chaudhuri......
anyways for any mba aspirants check out snapshots from hell by peter robbinson

Some of my favourite books:

  • Fountainhead - Ayn Rand

  • Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand

  • Catch 22 - Joseph Heller

  • The Harry Potter Collection

  • Chromosome 6 - Robin Cook

  • Mortal Fear - Robin Cook

  • Timeline - Michael Crichton

  • Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton

  • Prey - Michael Crichton

  • Code To Zero - Ken Follett

  • JackDaws - Ken Follett

  • Tell Me Your Dreams - Sidney Sheldon

  • If Tomorrow Comes - Sidney Sheldon

  • Honor Among Thieves - Jeffrey Archer

  • Sons Of Fortune - Jeffrey Archer

Those were the fiction books(some more to come), some non-fictions which are really worth reading:

  • Sounds Of Silence - Nan Umrigar

  • Only Love Is Real - Brian L. Weiss

  • Many Lives, Many Masters - Brian L. Weiss

  • A Civil Action - Jonathan Harr
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.
