Just finished reading all Dan Brown books.And I have to say all his book have the same plot:

1.A death in the prolouge which results in the start of the novel.

2.Lots of research(Just like Michael Crichton) .

3.Lots of charecter development for the Villain.

4.Giving the villain an alias for the first 90% of the movie .

5.The villain usually come back from death i.e as a twist.

6.Releaving the villain as a major twist.

7.Happy ending resulting in the hero and the heroine getting together .

8.The star of the novel always waking up from deep sleep and answering a telephone call which results in the start of the novel.



This is the same thing is all the novels.Its kinda boring,no new plot.

Used to like The Three Investigators (his books), but that was a pretty long time back Very Happy

saw this on the Hitchcock thread and decided it'd be best to reply here. these were one of the first books i ever read, i went from Famous Five to some other Enid Blithon series to 3 Investigators. long time ago, as you say.



they weren't much to do with Hitchcock though, as i remember the were written by Robert Arther, with the Hitchcock introduction also written by him. he had worked on the TV series "Alfred Hitchcock presents" and these were like a continuation of that theme i think. great books for young teens.

No problemo . Didn't know that those books were written by Robert Arthur. Anyway, the books were still pretty good, definetly better than Famous Five or Secret Seven (picked up one of those when I was 10 and knew the entire story by the 20th page ). Still have one book of The Three Investigators - The Mystery Of The Sinister Scarecrow, but in a tattered condition

Finished reading Catcher in the Rye a couple of days ago. Sorry, couldn't post earlier. The book is amazing. But I couldn't figure out how it is a Conspiracy Theory book. Entirely different from all other "classics". A true classic

What,I think you got it wrong,Ron Howard is directing it.I heard that Tom Cruise(?),George Clooney,Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe are trying for the lead.

Tom Cruise---No way,this guy doesnt have the intelectual look.

Russel Crowe----Looks like he will get it because he already is staring in 2 of Ron Howards movies and he has a good chance.

George Clooney----He too doesnt have the intelectual look.But he will do okay.

Hugh Jackman---Would fit in the role perfectly if he wasnt that young.



Langdon is supposed to be in mid forties and shouldnt look charming.

Consider the fact that this is a commercial movie and it will be stared by a A-list actor,so....

Bill Pulman---He isnt a vey famous actor to get this role.

Pierce Brosnan---I think hes too bust next year and I dont think people will buy him from a super sauve british spy to a american professor.

Liam Neeson---One of the most underated movie stars this decade but hes too old to play this role.

Ewan McGregor----Too busy with Star Wars:Revenge of the Sith.



Sophie Marceau---The best choice for Sophie.She is also french and the right age.

Rachel Weize---She can also suit the role of Sophie.



Right now my best guess is that Russel Crowe or Hugh Jackman may get the role.

You like the foul mouthed Aussie... His acting skills are no way near anything mentionable. I dont understand how he gets casted and recasted. I would rate Cruise better than Crowe.



Crowe uses the same type casted emotions for all the characters. A good actor casts himself in the role not the role into himself. We dont want to see him.. we want to see him portray the character.

first up, i dun see what he or for that matter anyone does/is in their personal lives should temme abt their acting skills. He is most definitely a better actor than Tom "$$$" Cruise.

hmmm.. have u seen the four movies where he was nominated for his acting prowess? As a hot-headed cop in L.A.Confidential, the scientist caught in a catch-22 situation in The Insider, the cheated Roman warrior in Gladiator and the troubled Math genius in A Beatiful Mind?? 4 different characters n he excelled in bringing out even the minutest of nuances among them. the role in L.A.C was prolly the closest to his real self

About Russle Crowe; I am not concerned about what he does in his off the screen life. I dont think he can act very well.



The range of emotions he shows in L.A.Confidential as a cop are same as the ones he shows in "Proof of life". And again in "The quick and the dead"... I think he makes any role he plays bland. He brings down the intensity of the role and casts the role in his own mannerisms. The way he smiles, the way he cries, the way he becomes angry is always the same. I mean to ask him a question... "You have been in the movies for so long, how have you grown as a person and as an actor"?.



On the contrary people like Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington try to portray the character as it is supposed to be.



In the women category... I think Sharon Stone does justice to most roles she plays. And she is hot. So is Ashley Judd. :drool:
