Any Sweepers Out There

by Scorpion's Sting » Wed Oct 06, 2004 8:04 pm

Ok, I'm bored to death and don't know what to do so I decided to start this topic. Any Minesweeper enthusiats on the DBs? Yes, I'm talking of that small game which MicroSoft launched in its Windows package!

My Best Scores:

Beginner:3 seconds

Advanced:33 seconds

Expert:128 seconds

So, does anyone here play minesweeper or are still wondering 'how the hell do ya play the game'?

Used to play that game long time ago.. Its a very cool game.

My scores..

Beginner (10 mines): 4 or maybe 5 Secs

Advanced (40 mines): 45 Secs. (I think)

Expert (99 Mines) : 133 Secs.

But you are fast! :D

i still love minesweeper....i've been playing it for nearly 10 years...but..but...yr scores are fantastic..... btw, how many mines do u choose for a game? default or u manipulate it?

my times:

Beginner: 7 secs

Inter: 48 secs

Adv: 183 secs

...all with the default number of mines in each level....8)

same here 8)..no manipulation.....well my good scores are coz I play a lot (at least used to), nearly 20-25 mins a day, now its just an occasional game or two

BTW, google gave me some results

World Records In Minesweeper:

Beginner: 1 second (some ppl say that is not possible and 2 seconds is the actual best time)

Advanced: 12 seconds (   )

Expert: 54 seconds (   )

and these ppl don't even use flags!

wtf? esp the Beginner's time. its not possible unless all the tiles cleared on the first click which is unlikely...which is why i suspect yr 3 secs too....;)

same with all the other times in the so-called world records...

Some guy had a screenshot of it also ....but even i don't think its possible because as you said, all have be cleared in the first click

My three seconds was extremely unexpected........i just clicked randomly twice and the screen which asks u to type yr name in the best time came up and heck I didn't even know what I had clicked on...

I wudn't say that, coz my 128 came from pure judgement and fast thinking ;) :D

The game's extremely simple although it may take you some time to get accustomed to it. Whenever you click on a square, it turns into a number, this number represents the number of mines around that particular square.

I am not a Minesweeper enthusiast. But, one of my friends is. And, is he one! His best scores are simply unbelievable:

Beginner: 1 sec (though he got lucky for this one... one click opened up all the non-mined squares)

Intermediate: 32 sec

Advanced: 93 sec

He is the only person I know who has broken the 100 sec barrier in the advanced level. And, he does it with great regularity.
