last time Ramzan was in Dec-Jan was 2000!

no...it was in dec-jan in 2002 too...i remember clearly it coz it was my last trip to australia at that time. I n my muslim colleague/flat mate used to cook dal n rice before midnight so that he can get up before sunrise and eat it.



another thing i remember abt that time was that an australian friend gave him directions to a mosque on Eid...and in the middle of the prayers my friend, a sunni, realised that it was a shia mosque........he was depressed that day after he returned....

...dunno...but my friend said it was quite far from the CBD where we were staying and that it was a malay or indonesian mosque

man, those principles were made in the days when there was nt enough food. i dont really think it has any relevance for the modern times. anyway beliefs are beliefs. so i dont really wanna contradict them.

Fasting is not about food. Its about control and medically it has been shown that fasting does clear up toxins from body.



Also, when when open your fast you are not supposed to eat loads of food. You are supposed to be moderate.



Gandhi has shown the importance of fasting. He used to fast regularly! I have fasted and at the end of the fast it really feel nice.

but what i mean to say is the practicing of fasting in most of the religions of middle eastern origin is cos of the lack of availability of food at a particular time of the year, so they believed in fasting and it is not ristriced to just one religion. there is a similar practice among jews and christians as well.

The fasting for Ramzan, according to some Muslim friends of mine, is intended to prepare them for anything in life. They don't eat loads and loads after Iftaar as most people do, but in fact moderate in such a way that they never feel over-burdened or craving for food.



The fasting in the month of Ramzan is to prepare them for, God forbid, the time in life when they can't obtain the essentials. Thus, a month of fasting was included in the religion.

upto 2 years ago, i used to fast one day a week (usually mondays, to compensate for the Sunday binge...) and used to feel refreshed n wonderful the rest of the week....these days i lost the habit i think i shud start it again...

Seems most of the Junta is ready for 23rd after 7 pm. Around the lake after 7 is not a very good idea because of the aerial threats looming large over the periphery of the lake.



Let's meet up at some other place where we won't have machchar singhs troubling us. Can't think of any such place at the moment. But after some halki fulki baatein, we could move over to some good place for haleem. Suggestions invited for that too.

isnt 7 pm a little late? being a weekend families flood the place...no room to sit...I guess 6 pm shld. b fine...but then many ppl. mite be late

the idea behind 7 pm was that we're meeting for iftaar. but nothing wrong in starting earlier. and 6 pm might be a good insurance against HST.

saar, the iftar timings this time would definitely be arnd 6, mebbe even earlier. so, 6 isnt a bad idea at all
