Qawah sucks.. too small.

CCD/Qwikies/Leaf&Bean are all too comercial and loud for anything.

I suggest

1. KBR park but on a holiday. Maybe we can play some game... Touch Football anybody... anybody got a football(American).

2. Barsita near Taj Banjara is usually empty. Good place for a chat and they are open till late.

ahem, one suggestion: could we move up the Meet by a week? Ramzan's starting from the 15/16 n it could be a bit unmanageable to make it during the fasting season. but, then again.. its the junta's say 8)

Thanks for the suggestions.

Goat Lord ji....your suggestion regarding Ramzan is well taken and we'll try n make it on the 15th - 16th weekend.

As for the Venue, I've said earlier too that it'll be better if the meet is held outdoors. AB's KBR park suggestion was good. How about meeting at some place like Lumbini Park or maybe Necklace Road? We could move on to Eat Street for the food or to Prasad's for a movie (whoever is game).

Ramzan... just the right oppertunity for some Haleem.. mmmm yum! :D. But we can meet after Iftaar right ? Cant we Az! So it can be any day good for all folks.

I am totally game for this.... Minor tech detail;

On Weekends... Lumbini is overrun by families who are not to particular about cleanliness. Necklace road is OK but again it wouldnt give us the exclusiveness.

We can do this(HP's idea)... We can meet at necklace road; hang out for a bit and then go see a movie or play video games at Prasads.

CAD --> according to the Islamic calender[Lunar], there is a difference of arnd 10/15 days[not sure] between the Islamic n the common months. so, every year Ramzan along with the others gets forwarded by that many days. i think Ramzan was in Dec-Jan abt 4 years back.

Lunar Calendar

As per the Lunar Calendar, the year Slips by 10 / 11 Days and One Month is Lost Every three Years ... The Telugu Calendar is also based on the Lunar System, but the correction is done by the "Adhika Maasam" / Extra Month Every three years ... The Islamic Calendar does not have such Correction ... Hence, the Festivals Get Advanced by 10 /11 Days Every Year! Two years ago, Ramzan occurred twice in the Same Roman Calendar Year ... but the Companies like BHEL observed only One Holiday. Islam allows the celebration / observation of Important Days throughout the Year to give the Faithful in the Different countries the Chance to celebrate / observe them in their Best Seasons.

Greetings for the Festive Season Ahead!

Of Calendars & Calendars!

Thank You, Dost "azazel"!

* The English / Roman Calendar "Corrects" by resorting to the "Leap" Year!

* The Telugu Calendar Uses the "Adhika" Maasam / Extra Month ... the Extra Month being observed first; the Normal Month / "Nija Maasam" follows ... This Year, we saw "Adhika Sravanam" followed by "Nija Sravanam" ... That is how we saw "Ganesh Chaturthi" shifting to 15 Sep, to be followed by "Vijaya Dasami" on 23 Oct and "Deepaavali" on 12 Nov ... "Makara Sankranti" falls on the Same Date 14 / 15 Jan, Tamil New Year on 14 Apr, as These Festivals follow the Solar Calendar!

* The Islamic Calendar makes the Faithful go through the Discipline of "Roza" in different seasons of the year ... through the hot / rain / cold periods ... That must be real "Thermal Cycling" the Devout undergo!

* The Hindu, too, is encouraged to "Discipline" through once-a-fortnight "Fasting" on "Ekadashi" ... OR the More Convenient to Remember and Observe Once-A-Week "Fasting" on Saturday Evening / Monday Morning, OR One Chosen "Full Day" in the Week!

Greetings!

"A2C", 14 Nov is Ramzan ... So "Roza" Period begins mid-Oct ... So, "the meet" must be before 14 Oct, if before Sunset ... OR from 14 Nov Onwards.

Thank You, "mpm" ... Nowadays people, more so the "young", feast on "Fast" Food ... They better really "Fast" instead of splurging on what is "Junk" ... The Doctors may grow poorer but the People will grow "Healthier" & "Wealthier"!

"Faithful Fasting" may help.

HH Saar, I did nt intend to glorify fast food when i said that in the present day we need not fast as we have enough food to eat. but what i mean to say is the practicing of fasting in most of the religions of middle eastern origin is cos of the lack of availability of food at a particular time of the year, so they believed in fasting and it is not ristriced to just one religion. there is a similar practice among jews and christians as well.

Among the Hindus, the practice of fasting does nt come from the vedic ages or even prior to days of the Indus people, it has been fabricated due to interactions with other cultures.

And one more thing that that interests me is how 'mean eating practices' formed a part of the religion. due to the occurance of tape worm in pork in the warm climates of the middle east and the mediterranean, pork was forbidden from eating in the pre islamic religions of the middle east which has become a part of the culture and paved a path into the religions of that region. just like beef is prohibited for hindus. cow/ox was the chief animal for most of the work done in the vedic/post vedic days in india, as a way to protect the animal from endanger/to have animals to work for them, they prohibited the slaughter of cows in the name of religion.

for the gypsies/Dom, horse is the chief animal, and they are prohibited from eating it. Fair enough, but they dont attribute it to any religion which is cool. And hey they were hindus wen this practice was popular. they worshipped Shakthi aand were known to be the last worshippers of mother godess in Europe.
