Eggjaktlee my point. Even with our own Indian classical music, we have new instruments in vogue. Musicians are improvising with ragas. Fusion is maturing more and more by the day. I wouldn't call that regressing.

listening to a whole lotta percussions, interesting. lemme knw how u found them. Shakti is brilliant in every way, baaps of fusion and their respective instruments. but, i still havent gotten used to their sound. guess, should give 'em a few more listens. John Mclaughlin is a mahaaan guitarist 8)

This Karunesh character was heavy on the charts last year. Haven't heard him myself but have heard from ppl he's good. His music, AFAIK, is not really world music but indian folk music with some typical DJ mixing.

Such music is always better downloaded instead of spending a kadak patta.

tht will be Joe Satriani/Steve Vai/Eric Johnson - G3 Live
tht was the 1st of the 3 G3 tours which feat. Satriani/Vai along with another proficient guitarist. it was Johnson[amazing] followed by Petrucci[Dream Theater] n Yngwie Malmsteen. there's 3 songs each by the solo guitarists n their bands followed by en encore featuring all of them. absolutely amazing

Mahavishnu Orchestra is a precursor band to Shakti. It's fusion and its first class. Get it.

the difference being, MO was more of jazz-rock fusion with not too much emphasis on classical music. it had the energy of rock n roll with the daring improvizations of jazz, a prominent entity of its time with master musicians from the world over

get these 2 albums if u find them:

1. The Inner Mounting Flame [brilliance!]

2. Birds Of Fire

its world music, to describe it in words, i d say, its the modern present day indian classical/fusion version of Vivaldi. it has a touch of energy, melancholy, eagerness and everything to it. I was pretty impressed. i think this guy is on the first original buddha bar, thats where i knew this guy from.

and about the dub foundation... they a bit of everything, play flute, table, rap and sing bengali vocals. just hardcore Dub music

I love the music by Madonna and Christina Aguilera, and they are truly talented artists. But so are Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.

Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.

Christina I like, but not Celine. But she has the talent, it was a rags to riches story for her. She sang her way to the bank.
