They're mostly trying to push quantity. Just look at all the loops and beats repeated in every second song.

A bit off-topic here, but everyone needs to see this. This fantastic lists all the popular hindi/southie songs/ads which are actually copies of english/other songs:

Sonu Nigam is a very good singer but Adnan Sami  dun think so.
I think Adnan has a velvety voice that fits brisk as well as erotic numbers...i think Abhijeet n Shaan have a good range too...

among females i think Shreya Ghoshal is one of the brightest stars on the rise...

my most hated singer: Kumar nasal-screech Sanu :x

Late 80's, he was on his wane. Infact Mohd. Aziz and Shabbir Kumar ruled over the 80s. A really forgotten name here is Anwar - another of the Rafi clones to hit the market in the late 70s.

But....aren't we discussing female singers here?

Hann Yaar. Bad mishtake.

I seem to have developed this repulsion against the current crop of 'divas' :?. Which is prolly why i gave some really deserving females the ignore.

Male or Female, no artist of 'sound' talent has emerged after Kishore ('cept Sonu).

I read in DC today about a British singer who has been making waves in the R&B world.

all of 5 years? i've stopped buying new albums, with about 80 years of recorded music to choose from it's silly to concentrate on the current crop of punters whos celebrity is more important than their music.

I feel there is some good talent among the current crop too...but yes...the lot to whom celebrity matters more...may not fall exactly under the talented class.

Being a music fan, I've always kept in touch in some or the other way with contemporary music at all stages of my life. It gives you a lot of insight into how music is progressing.

Are you sure you meant progressing and not regressing? I sure do not see any progress here.

And, yes, BS (Britney Spears or Bull****, whatever you may choose to call her) does indeed have a fine ass, not to mention certain other fine assets though singing is not one of them.
