A question for females!

I would like to ask about how I should dress in Hyderabad! Currently resident in a strict muslim country in the Gulf, I would like to know if it is acceptable for women to wear shorts and T-shirts about town, or is a more conservative approach appreciated?

shorts, minis, tank tops etc r ok in parties, pubs n clubs, else u wud attract lotsa stares/comments on the streets. normal 'western' wear like jeans/trousers, skirts, tees etc are usually ok on the streets provided they r not very revealing.

but one thing: Hyderabad is quite safe for women so nothing much to worry.

My advice.. wear ANYTHING but SOMETHING!

Rule : The more you reveal the more attention you get. Sometimes thats good but only in the right places(even in Hyderabad).

Back to the topic, I found Hyd to be pretty decent, if a lil orthodox as far as girls are concerned.

Well, both ways actually.

No girls on the roads (though its mebbe bcuz of the traffic). Girls dont smile back at you if you smile at them (wtf? I wont eat you or something, for crying out loud!). I cant point to anything particular, just something that i felt. But I am comparing Hyd to Ngp which is supremely cool in terms of Girls' freedom, a bit like Pune and Delhi.

Yeah... what really struck me on a recent visit to Pune was the abundance of female drivers... almost everywhere you look, there are girls driving!!

True, in Hyd you don't see as much of this.... mbbe because of the traffic, as you say.
