there's a store called best books in lakdi-ka-pul, have you heard of it? i've seen a decent collection of williams there, or even MR books, on abids road or try your luck at the punjagutta crossroads. there's also a place called unique books, on the nampally road. tell me if you've heard of any of these places, or i'll send you addresses. fullhyd also has their profiles, if you want more info.

no cop that i know of, but there's farmer jenks, an old enemy of william's. and the aunt you're thinking of is probably violet elizabeth's mother, mrs bott, whose husband makes digestive sauce :)

pardon me for pointing out one of the city's oldest landmarks, to one of the city's truest residents :)

the one at punjagutta is next to Y2K Tandoori, it's a tacky looking place, next to the pan dhaba, says BOOKS EXHIBITION on the banner. that is a branch of the much bigger MR Books on abids main road.

yes i know :) the first thing i do after i buy an old book is bury my nose in the pages. i love that smell, it speaks of anticipation. i also love the look of yellowed paper. i have a couple of books so old, you have to be careful turning the pages.

another reason i love second-hand books stores is that there are so many trasures lying around for you to find, not all neatly clinically arranged in alphebetical order (so unromantic). and you're right, the books themselves are almost snobbish in their pristine-ness.

the next time i come across a stash of williams, i'll let you know through pm or mail. nothing like revisiting a much-love childhood classic :)

WOW! me too! i get a high from the smells of an old book shop!

i had a 1930s book - Arabian Night stories, full version - belonging to my grandaunt from her school days. the pages used to crumble if turned roughly. i maintained it perfectly till some a**h***e cousin dropped it on the floor...:(...broke my heart to see the book literally break into pieces...

exactly! remember how its in Best Books...."arranged" just the way i like it!

no, i haven't kept my eyes out for amar chitra katha, but if you just want to read some, there's a good collection at this library called kaliedoscope in srinagar colony. maybe if you visit they can also tell you where you can buy the books. as far as i know, they get their supplies from the book bazar.

have you tried mr books or unique?

i want to buy them for my son to grow up with instead of just american cartoons. he's just 1 now, but i want to introduce him to good stuff first before he secretly starts rifling thru my 'adult' collection..

oh, i think that's a lovely idea. too much cartoon network these days, me thinks. since this is a noble cause, i'll keep my eyes open for amar chitra katha. AND william :)

MR books is opposite the church (st. george's, i think), and Unique Books is on the Nampally road, after Quality Inn, keep your eyes on the left. It's an empty plot, with an old building, the ground floor is dedicated to books. i'm sure you'll luck out there. and i hear they are very prompt about finding books for you, so you can place an order too

Haven't read thru all the posts but these are my two cents for now:

Agreed with Ctrl, life without books is terrible! Btw, would you accept a late rakhi?

Believe it or not, I think that the Half-blood Prince is none other than Neville Longbottom...unless she introduces a new character or resurrects a dead/old one.

Not possible because Neville is a pure blood.Dumbledoor says it in the end of OOTP.It has to be either Dean Thomas or Hagrid.I think on her website JKR told that she wouldnt be introducing any new characters. :D

i agree .. didnt Dumbledore say something to the effect - "& by marking you, Voldermort chose you a half-blood like himself" at the end of OOtP

Though Dean Thomas & Hagrid are safe bets, i am not sure if Giants or rather half-Gaints count at all ... so by pure elimination Dean Thomas seems to be the most likely person.

I wonder if we get to see more members of the Order, some of them were pretty kewl characters. I particularly liked the lady auror who cud easily change into any disguise .. forgot her name ??

Dumbledoor said something like this:"He marked a hald blood, just like him...."Something on those lines. So I dont this it could be Nevile.Oh yeah Tonks, shes also a half blood, forgot about her, could be her too. :D

Dean Thomas? Where does he come from to be a major player? He is one of many characters that are Harry's friends.

Whoever said Hagrid, I completely forgot about him, but yeah, this book could include major war etc activities from the giants part. And, isn't Hagrid sort of a prince because his mother was a queen?

Did JKR refute that the New DADA professor was going to be the HB prince?

Interesting points .. the new DADA prof can definitely be a possibilty .. all the more reason for very dear Tonks to come into picture

Dean Thomas .. does have an interesting history to make him a candidate .. firstly his father was killed by the death Eaters .. secondly he does nt know much abt his father ... as he lives with his muggle mother & step-father .. so prob a good time for JKR to get into his past will be the new book.

But the interesting Q is how do u define a prince .. were there kings & queens in the wizrding world.... ok jaan pointed out abt the giant Queen .. but i havent heard of wizard royalty in any books
