i second tht. Anthony Hopkins gets my vote for one of the most chilling performances ever. Jonathan Demme hasnt made movies of tht caliber in a long time. wht abt the sequels? i think "Hannibal" was a let-down, the prequel "Red Dragon" was a good one tho.

naah, hannibal was tripe. it was like a mockery of the original, they threw away the mood and upped the ick-factor, and made it some kinda b-grade horror show. haven't seen red dragon. don't think i want to. the silence of the lambs stands on its own, it's mood, texture, everything's just right, i wouldn't ruin it with anymore sequels or prequels.

why do they always ruin a good thing by going overboard? why can't they just leave well enough alone? i mean, what's next? hannibal coffee mugs? hannibal dentures? hannibal steaks and ribs? lol bad one, i know

n the fact tht it had a somewhat original concept. serial-killer flicks these days are just so typical and formulaic. SOTL was a brilliant movie, strongly directed, perfect cast which delivered, technically proficient, backed by a very good script which was devoid of any cliches!

becoz dear, they make $$$ which to studios is more than enuff reason!

as far as Hannibal/Red Dragon go, movie version aside, the novels are quite on par with SOTL.
