I fail to understand why people become so patriotic suddenly around 15th August and 26th January. I fail to understand where this patriotism suddenly vanishes the rest of the year. I fail to understand why patriotism has become so jingoistic today. I fail to understand why the youth of today, inspite of being fully aware of the mistakes the previous generation made, is hell bent on repeating the same.

I am not justifying the fact that we dont become patriotic during or around Aug 15 or Jan 26. Yes we do. Heck even I have been guilty of that. But we are human and we have different things on our mind at different times. If you mean people show more patriotism by raising the flag and taking time out to convene for the national anthem, then yes they are guilty of that. But on the same lines why do we use colors only on holi? Why do we fly kites only in Sankranti? Why do we keep rozas only in Ramazan(there are exceptions)?

In simple words.. we do what we can. But I believe we are Indian at heart. The indianess comes out when India is playing a Cricket or Hockey match and we sit glued to our TV’s hoping Indian would win. The Indianess comes out when we collectively send contributions for Kargil Soldiers or for Gujrat riot victims. The indianess comes out when we shelter and protect people of opposite race during the riots.

I believe it is not important to show your colors outside. If they cut you open... your heart should be Orange-white and Green. That’s what counts.

With all the bad I see today... there are people who are really Indian at heart.

its not all tht black n white.. even tho its a minority, there r ppl questioning the actions/mistakes of our elders.. As far as repeating the same mistakes goes, a change in mind-set is reqd n tht doesnt come easily..
