why are people so intolerant with gays?

this is the eighth indian discussion forum where i've said i'm gay and then ppl start giving me nicknames like archana etc etc. do gays not have a right to express their views? when will india learn to accept gays as they are and without ridiculing and making crude jokes like morpheus does ??

All i can say is that rome was nt built in a day.

So was nt hyderabad.

give it some time and let people know what you actually are. And if you still think they judge you based on your sexual preferences, dude, its their problem.

but hope it does nt happen!

Hey D,

I am sure MM did not mean it, he couldn't have known that you were gay. Maybe he thought it was funny. However, I will not make excuses for him.

I think people are getting to be more tolerant of gays all over the world, esp. in the dominant male Indian society. Also, there are no set rules for behaving properly, people make mistakes to learn from them. Meet them halfway, don't assume everyone has a problem with gays. Also, I do believe that the FHDB is more mature than the other forums you have been to.

I will agree with MPMasala, it takes time.

if u really are a gay as u claim...its nice to se someone come out openly.

i have no problems with gays as long as they dont make a move on me...

in fact in many threads i have spoken out AGAINST homophobic attitudes and supported homosexuality as a natural phenomenon.

that crack abt archana refers to some past members and a recent one too. there is something in yr ID that seem to connect various dots...i have no patience to explain it. see if MM does.... :roll:

You didnt have the right to make obnoxious comments about gays! He might have promoted the 0-yes thing a little loudly.. but I still think you had a choice to TUNE out. Calling him wrong side and asking him to get the f**k out of here is not how HYDERABADIS behave. We are an accepting lot...

I think he is brave to say he is GAY. I hope he doesnt get the wrong view about people from hyderabad.

I had a GAY friend in US. He was the nicest person have known. These people are nice. They are just like us, they just have different sexual preference. And they dont make passes at all men. They know how to seek out their kind!

I have said it in an earlier thread and I will say it again. I do not think people have anything against gays or lesbians when it concerns their sexual orientation. What most people find repugnant and repulsive is the constant urge in homosexuals to make a statement about their sexuality - gay parades, cross-dressing, etc. I mean why the hell can't they act and behave like the rest of us do?

I am heterosexual. But do I go around town advertising that? Then why do gays feel the need to do so?

PS: This is not meant to be a personal attack. I hope it is taken in the spirit of the discussion.

You have been DQfying us with your logic for quite sometime now. But we still talk to you... Dont know why.. but we do. That is being tolerant.

And yes the answer is relevant to your question. Because we have been talking to you all this while and we dont discriminate against you. We dont ask you to "Get the f**k out" from FHDB. We listen to what you have to say and try to reason with you. That is being tolarant.

I am not getting personal... I hardly know you. Infact I know someone on this board who can get really personal with you... :wink:
