good moral -- movies dont always have to carry a social message you know.. they arent aesops fables. for eg swordfish.. thats a good movie even though its Evil.

and showing violence doesnt mean a movie isnt good!!!

i was the head instructor in a sailing course where some kid asked us to get this movie (during very windy days we watched movies with vague links to sailing, this one has boats in it at one stage) . the person renting the movie didn't notice the rating (18's), it was only during the film i figured it was unsuitable for a group of 11-15 year olds. very embarrasing (if it happened now i'd probably get sued for huge amounts of money)

yeah, but there's very few movies with sailing in them. "Wind" got boring after the 410th time, "Thomas Crown Affair" has some sailing, but also Renee Russo's breasts (had to fast forward it past that scene). "Waterworld" is so bad most of the kids would loose interest in the first 10 minutes. White Squall was ok though.

Hindi:

Good Movie for me..

1. No message.. just pure fun! Govinda Movies.

2. Full message.. no fun! Chandani Bar, Saransh. etc

3. Fun serious movies.. Laagan,Bend it like Beckham. etc

I Hate:

- Hum aapke hain kaun types.

- All SRK movies. I dont know how they can compare SRK to Amitabh.

I used to like old Amitabh movies.. but I dont think I like them anymore.

I say watch Master and Commander, Russell Crowe movie for sailing. All the movie is shot on and about a Sailing War Ship.

Aaaahh!! Yodaesque..........sunne ko mere kaanan tarras rahein hain.

If everybody (almost) here hates SRK movies...I wonder how each and everymovie turns out to be a hit.

After my recent spate of "B-grade" films like RakthaKaneeru, Sivaram, Mirchi, Murder (yes it's "B-Grade"), I have refined my definition of a good movie. Any movie that delivers what it promises is good. For example Sivaram (Starring Saikumargaru) promised "One cops fight against the evil in society" and delivered. Hence it was good. Murder promised lotsa titallating sequences and a corny storyline and it delivered. Thus it was good.

People might be wondering why I rate these "normally" bad movies so highly. It's like this......when you are passionate about some thing.say cricket or a particular genre or music.......you want to look at the bad innings or a bad album just because you want to see the dark side of the sport or the genre. You are curious as to how bad these things are in comparison to other bad innings or bad albumks you've heard. And then there's always thie chance of you spotting an awesome shot or a cool song. Similar reasons guide me into theaters to watch these movies.

Going back......all the movies that are pretentious (like hyd blues-2) are defintely bad movies.

HB-2 promised an "honest introspection by the director"...pffffff

SRK movies promise complete entertainment and deliver hence I do not hate em with the same passion that most of my peers do.

haaai re, Vizag ki hawa lag gayi..

the reason y his movies are huge hits is coz of the billion other ppl tht dun surf these dbs' n go watch his movies..

but, i agree with the delivering on what they promise be it sleaze or stoopidity being paisa vasool for the audience they're aimed at

Movies

by Kenny » Wed Aug 11, 2004 11:31 pm

Depends on the movie right....... can't generalize

I mean, a movie that takes itself seriously obv has to be shown in a different light from a movie that doesn't......

for me at least, involvement is a major factor. so is the soundtrack, which enhances involvement

take Random Hearts, for example. Without the soundtrack which attracted my attention, I probably wouldn't have been involved much and gotten 'into' the movie!
