You guys know the booming business that was coming up on Bombay - Nagpur Highway, soon after AP border ? The place is called Humnabad, its on AP - Karnataka border. When Alcohol was banned, every slave of fermented barley, used to drive about 150 kms to that place and pay his respects.

So banning alcohol does not stop ppl from drinking, it just helps the business boom at the nearest unbanned area. Plus it increases drunken driving.

Just have cops strictly check on drunken driving, thats enough. Be at Symphony theatre bangalore at 9.00 PM, you will see atleast 3 cops standing there screening every rider.

effects of alcohol are different for everyone. some people will drink 2 pints (1 liter-ish) , and feel more relaxed, more confident, less stressed, and more "happy". others may feel melancholic, others may get violent. most people know through experimentation what effect alcohol has on them. For me, anything up to 3 pints will help me relax, unwind, chill, etc. When chatting with friends, it is nice for me to have a drink or two. most of my friends feel the same way.

i don't drink and drive, i never have. none of my friends do either, and while mild injuries have occured, everyone i know that drinks in moderation has been pretty much ok.

A responsible attitude is essential, and is what is lacking in the UK at the moment. Look at the attitudes towards drink in France or Italy for a good guide to drinking in socity. In these countries it's no big deal, people drink small amounts from a time when they are old enough to talk, and their general treatment of alcohol when they grow older is far more mature that those in countries where alcohol is clouded with mystery.

My friends tell me it about havin fun and tell me it helps them njai life  .

it's technically speaking, narcotic's cheap cousin in terms of kicks. Well I boycott alchohol bigtime (and of-course narcotics too  )

And yeah personally alchohol has wreaked a havoc in our family on more than one occassion.

Having said this, I really do not have any opinion where wine is more a dining habit. It is almost like "Kheer" to them and they really don't get drunk. So I really cannot judge, but the bottomline is "LIMIT" and well u know the devil and angel fight :?

I can afford to take a stand for myself, but what others want , well its their "iski maa ka fight" (BTW, do u know the FREE WILL stuff)

i drink in extreme moderation...mainly coz i have to drive back home

i dont agree that to enjoy life u need to drink. i drink when in company of friends coz it helps in conversation and lessens inhibitions...:D....but at most i have only 2 or 3 drinks over nearly 2 hours....so i have never felt the 'kick' except one one occassion (new year in a Goa beach...can be forgiven...:D)...and i rarely get a hangover

Well see you guys are talking about how drinking is fun, and taking advantage of a drunken state? but tell me what is that fun when you can't even remember what you did? Its just like a typically indian movie, you like a guy don't have the guts to tell but when youget drunk you spill them out? come one this is REALITY!

SS, i don't want to put words in your mouth, but it seems you have a problem with drinking in excess, rather than in moderation. I agree with you on this. If you drink so much you cant remember (i admit this has happened me a good few times in college) thats not so much fun, you're right. life's a learning experience though, and once bitten twice shy. I haven't done it since college

I read it as a Santa&Banta PJ.

Santa asks Banta:What is OXYMORON?

Banta says:A Moron who breathes OXYGEN.

Wanted to share it... Thats about it!

I dont have any problems with people who drink, be it guys or girls, as long as it is in limits. I drink socially, when in parties or with friends and I dont mind if my gf or wife drinks.

gurl.. u gotto put things with a lil' subtlety.. any kinda excess esp. intoxication is unwise.. and like i said, everyone sez they practice moderation but it only takes one time for things to get really bad.. u never knw..

Yeh I totally agree with everything you said SS.

And 40% of all car accidents and deaths occur from drunk driving and the number just gets higher. And ONE person doesn't die from drunk driving every day......I've read that about 40 people die or get injured from it. ! Now thats a great number considering how many days there are in a year!
