Salary

by marko » Fri Jul 23, 2004 4:04 pm

Hi guys,

a question for you all. I'm a software professional with 2 years experience onsite here in the UK, and no experience other than this. I'm getting transfered offshore, and i'm going to have to sign a new contract, and recieve standard wage for offshore. This has never been done before in this company, usually when perminant onsite employees go offshore, they retain their full salary. however as in this case i'm going for 2 years it's different.

2 questions.

1. What is the standard salary a grad with 2 years experience can expect in Hyd (Rs per month)?

2. Is it possible to live comfortably in Hyd for that, or am i going to have to stay in shared accomodation somewhere cheap?

lastly, the company i work for has something of a reputation for not having the best compensation packages, shall we say. i reckon some of you can probably guess who.. :)

I guess a person with the kind of qualification and experience you have would make between 10 and 15k (software professionals, correct me if I'm wrong). One could live alone on that, but it might not be extremely comfortable. Shared acco is probably a better idea, not just because you share the cost too, but because being in a new place (a new country!) and living alone might be a bit daunting, especially if you've never been there before. Also, since Hyd is getting a little expensive, the more money you save by sharing acco, the more you can spend on partying ;)

You should also probably get together with locals that you trust as soon as you get down (maybe a couple of us at fullhyd can help you out too), or you'll experience first-hand the pleasure with which Hyderabadis fleece non-Indians :)

All the best!

less than 20000 per month. exact amt depends on company, but expect around 15000-18000. if less than 12K or 13K refuse it. if u get more than 20K...good for u!
marko wrote:2. Is it possible to live comfortably in Hyd for that, or am i going to have to stay in shared accomodation somewhere cheap?
u can live comfortably in hydbad for that amt unless u plan to get drunk every night and love to eat out daily. Rent depends on area. if u want to remain in thick of action, u better go for shared flat whose total rent cud be abt 5000+ per month. live normally, cook yr own food n u mite get to save quite a decent amt.

if its indian company, i think i can reel out a few prominent names. non-indian, well, i dunno, they all seem to pay quite well.

Didn't know much abotu the salaries that geeks get in town nowadays but I can give you a nice low-down on the expenses part.

When I came to Hyderabad, I was earning a little above 10K a month and was living a pretty decent life (not very comfortable....but decent) with my wife at Banjara Hills. Given that yardstick, 15 should be enough for a comfortable living.

not much point in saving anything, since even if i saved half my salary it wouldn't come to much back in the UK. might as well enjoy it all over in India.

Definitely not NIIT

NIIT employees are the most underworked and overpaid employees in the industry.

That reminds me...ZC is in Singapore and most of NIIT's offshore work is based there. Is he working for them?
