Hey ur doing a big research just on pillows. I did not try that “two-humps” or any such kind, but I feel with that pillow you can have neck cramps.

Adding to ur knowledge, one simple way for better sleep is wrapping your pillow a neat white cotton T shirt, u heard it right. A T shirt with no sticker but just plane white thick cotton T shirt gives your chicks a smooth feeling and fine touch on turning ur head at night. Since u don’t change ur cotton pillow cover alternate days, you can have a couple of used T shirts for this purpose. U can wash put T shirts for wash alternate days. Ease is that u don’t have remove them like pillow cover and they are better than that cotton. This is what I do if it sounds stupid! The pillow should be flat and cotton not sponge.

I dont use a form pillow, or I don’t think this humpy idea is any better coz how wud u feel when this hump touches ur nose and ur mouth to block fine inspirations. And I bet no one can sleep straight in one position, albeit its best for your body to relax, you take many turns, unlike doing yoga.

Cat, Pillow and Mice!

Cat, Pillow and Mice!

One day, a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven, where he meets Saint Peter himself. Saint Peter says to the cat, "You lived a good life, and if there is any way I can make your stay in heaven more comfortable, please let me know." The cat thinks for a moment and says, "Peter, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor." Saint Peter stops the cat and says, "Say no more," and a wonderful, fluffy pillow appears. A few days later, six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident, and all of them go to heaven. Again, Saint Peter is there to greet them with the same offer. The mice answer, "All our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. Running, running, running; we're tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so that we don't have to run anymore?" Saint Peter says, "Say no more" and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates. About a week later, Saint Peter stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow. Saint Peter gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you got here?" The cat stretches and yawns, then replies, "It is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those 'Meals On Wheels' you've been sending by are the best!"

Once a couple had one of their usual quarrels as a consequence of which all conversation between them stopped. Unfortunately the husband was to attend his office very early the next morning. So he wrote on a piece of paper, 'Please wake me up tomorrow morning,' and kept it beside his wife's pillow. His wife read it and went to sleep. He woke up very late the next morning and got very angry. He looked ferociously at his wife, but she calmly pointed towards his pillow. Under his pillow he found a piece of paper. On it was written, 'Please wake up, it is 6 o'clock now.'

Pillow Considerations

Pillow Considerations

Visit:

http://www.spine-health.com/topics/cd/p ... ows01.html

Use of a variety of pillows for both comfort and support can make a big difference in alleviating or avoiding back pain or neck pain and getting a good night’s sleep. For people with spinal disorders, the right type of support can be especially important in helping the spine rest comfortably.

For example, most down or feather pillows offer very little structural support compared to pillows filled with firmer materials. People who suffer from moderate or severe spinal disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, myofascial pain, or trauma often seem to experience a more restful night’s sleep with a firmer pillow. Pillows filled with grain or buckwheat hulls are often effective for people with any of the above-mentioned conditions.

Pillow support and comfort

It is a very comforting feeling to have just the right pillow to rest an achy, tired body on. In addition to providing comfort, the right pillows can also provide the necessary support for the neck and spine - alleviating or preventing many common forms of back pain and neck pain.

Use of a pillow while sleeping has two main functions: Support & Comfort

Mattress Top Pillow must be designed to keep the spine in natural alignment, should feel comfortable and should be adjustable. Pillows have to help change in sleep position - Back, Side and Stomach.

Different Types of Pillows are needed for Special Use like Knee Pillows, Body Pillows, Neck Pillows, Travel Pillows, Lower-Back Support Pillows and Donut Pillows (People who have suffered a broken or bruised tailbone or have coccygeal pain - such as coccydynia - may need this type of pillow in order to sit without pain).

Tip for Travel Pillows

Practical Comfort - CountryLore: Readers Ttips' To Live By

Mother Earth News, Dec, 2003 by Frances D. Goode

Tip for Travel Pillows

My husband and I went to California on an Amtrak train in 1990, and we didn't get any of those little pillows they usually give to passengers. I thought, "I won't be without a pillow on my next Amtrak trip." And I wasn't.

I made pillows for my husband and myself, using a pair of 10-year-old slacks. I pride myself on never throwing anything away before thinking of a use other than its original purpose.

I cut a portion off each leg for the pillow part and a strip above that for the handles. This made two pillows, which I stuffed with polyester fiberfill. We used them on our next Amtrak trip and they were wonderful! Everyone along the way and at our destination thought so, too.

The pillows are easy to make and are great gifts for folks who travel a lot. They are made of beautiful colors and varying widths, depending on the slacks. Polyester makes a lovely material for the pillows because it is so stretchy. The filling can be as plump or as flat as you like.

I sell the patterns so others can enjoy making them, too. It's such a great satisfaction to have designed something so simple yet so useful.

The "Pillows" Band!

by HH » Fri Jul 16, 2004 7:19 pm

The "Pillows" Band!

Many fans of Japanese animation were in for a pleasant surprise when first witnessing the fresh new sounds coming from their Furi Kuri soundtracks, almost entirely composed of previous Pillows hits. Being relatively unknown outside Japan before then, the rocking trio already had several albums published and if it was not for its concoction with anime, myself and many others would have sadly missed out on one of today’s most talented bands.

Image

The "Pillows" of Japan!

Just thinking of getting up in the morning without my healthy dose of Pillows music gives me goose bumps. Their uplifting melodies composed of innovative guitar rifts and stirring beats hit right on the mark. The beauty of it all is that they do not just stick to a winning formula or cling to a single hit; each of their albums reinvents the next and this has been going on for over ten years now.

Pillow Time

There's a wonderland for Alice,

There's a tall beanstalk for Jack,

Sleepy train will take you there,

So safely down the track.

With the sandman at the throttle,

You'll be off to dreams and back,

It's pillow time again.

You will meet all your storybook friends,

As you go down Mother Goose Lane,

Romp with Jack and Jill,

Up and down the hill,

And try to put Humpty together again.

Close your sleepy eyes and listen,

While we take a little hop,

The candy whistle's blowin',

Don't you miss your station stop,

So goodnight my weary farer,

Pleasant dreams to you old top,

It's pillow time again.

You will meet all your storybook friends,

As you go down Mother Goose lane,

Romp with Jack and Jill,

Up and down the hill,

And try to put Humpty together again.

Close your sleepy eyes and listen,

While we take a little hop,

The candy whistles blowin',

Don't you miss your station stop,

So goodnight my weary farer,

Pleasant dreams to you old top,

It's pillow time again.

It's pillow time again.

It's pillow time again...

The Pillow Book

The Pillow Book

A Film Review by James Berardinelli

Theatrical Aspect Ratio: 1.66:1 and 2.35:1

Cast: Vivian Wu, Ewan McGregor, Yoshi Oida, Ken Ogata, Hideko Yoshida

Director: Peter Greenaway

In English and Japanese with subtitles

Calligraphy is one subject that not many movies have explored, and none has approached it in quite the way that British director Peter Greenaway does in his latest motion picture, The Pillow Book. To use the film's own words to describe it, this is about the "two things in life that are dependable: the delights of the flesh and the delights of literature" and how they can be melded into one. If you're looking for something off the beaten path this summer, The Pillow Book won't disappoint. Whatever its shortcomings, this film is different.

Of course, considering the director, that's hardly surprising. Greenaway has routinely spurned traditional movie making techniques, preferring to use celluloid as an experimental canvas. His reputation has been formed largely as a result of a series of intriguingly unconventional motion pictures, including Prospero's Books, a bizarre re-invention of Shakespeare's The Tempest, and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, a twisted fable about an eloquent gangster getting his just desserts. The closest Greenaway has ever come to being mainstream is The Cook, but, considering the relatively widespread distribution that The Pillow Book is likely to receive, that may change.

The only character of any real importance in The Pillow Book is Nagiko, a Japanese-born fashion model with obsessions for calligraphy, physical pleasure, and revenge. When she's a child, her loving father (Ken Ogata), a master calligrapher, paints a traditional blessing on her face every birthday.

There's something admittedly fascinating about the way Greenaway explores this mixture of calligraphy and the human form. However, as unique as this combination may be, it's actually one of The Pillow Book's few original ideas.

The great irony of this film, which is (at least on one level) about the power of writing, is that the words are of secondary importance to the overwhelming visual presentation. The camera, not the script, dominates our response to Greenaway's film. In the final analysis, The Pillow Book has much more to show than it has to say.

"Organic Pillows"

by HH » Tue Aug 10, 2004 12:23 pm

http://www.pillowcompany.com/faqs.html

"Organic Pillows"

Image

"Organic Pillows"

The Pillow Company, USA, offer pillows, support pillows, and night pillows. with a variety of organic fillings such as buckwheat hull, millet hull, flax seed, millet seed, and rice kernels.

The products help the user to keep a healthy and correct posture at night, during the day in the office and at home, while driving the car, or travelling in a plane. At night, the support pillows help in "peaceful rest" for the

body.

Image

Buckwheat Hulls

For Centuries Asian Health specialists and healers have been aware of the benefits that come with sleeping on buckwheat hull pillows and such pillows enjoy widespread use in many Asian countries. The small size and uneven shape of buckwheat hulls make them a perfect pillow filling: There is a constant shifting of the buckwheat hull material as you move while air freely passes through the organic filling. This constant ventilation of buckwheat hull pillows keeps them fluffy and fresh.

Traditional feather pillows tend to lose their shape as the night progresses. Regular foam and polyester pillows keep their shape but cannot accommodate individual needs for support. Our buckwheat hull pillows will neither flatten during the night nor force you to shift your head and neck in search of comfort. Their organic buckwheat hull filling will adjust itself to the individual form and weight of your head, while giving continued support throughout the night.

Regular use of buckwheat hull pillows with their complete support for spinal alignment will soothe muscle tensions, offer relief from shoulder/neck tightness, and prevent headaches. Buckwheat hulls retain heat and are thus useful in heatpacks.

Millet Seeds

Millet seeds are tiny in size, round, and smooth. When the hulls are separated from the seeds, these tiny empty shells retain their smooth and velvety texture. Unlike buckwheat hulls that are more sturdy and rough, millet hulls feel silky to our touch. It feels velvety as we touch it but like buckwheat hulls, millet hulls are capable of fully supporting the weight of our head and neck without losing their form.

ImageImage

Like buckwheat hulls, millet hulls contour the neck line and smoothly shift along as people move in sleep. Once in a while millet hulls will have a slight wheat-like natural scent for 2-3 weeks; the scent then disappears. It is rare but entirely harmless.

Millet hulls are considered hypo-allergenic and do not house dust mites. Millet hulls provide continued solid neck support throughout the night, offer relief from shoulder/neck tightness, and help prevent headaches.

Dream Pillows & Flax Seed Eye Pillows

Wellcat’s Herb Pillows

* Dream Pillows & Flax Seed Eye Pillows

With so many scholarly and romantic studies vested in our quest for deep, nurturing sleep, and—for some of us, wistful longings for deliciously vivid dreams or the banishment of even a squeak of a nightmare—it’s hardly surprising that Dream Pillows are once again being clutched by the weary, sighed over by the romantic and slumbered upon by the dreamer.

* Pastoral Dreams

Instead of tossing & turning through the night, rest your head upon this blend of relaxing herbs. Reputed to soothe & calm, many of the same herbs in Pastoral Dreams are also used in capsule or tea form for anyone experiencing a lot of stress or for the weary soul plagued by insomnia. Contains hops, valerian, red clover flowers, passion flower, skullcap, mullein flowers & leaves, sweet marjoram, rosemary, catnip, lemon balm, lavender flowers, chamomile, roses, and certified organic oatstraw tops.

Wellcat’s Dream Pillows are handcrafted 5”x7” packets filled with all natural herbs (no fixatives or scent added). To enjoy their benefits, toss one where one might rest the head for a restorative nap or tuck it inside of the regular bed pillow. The warmth of the head will release the herbal scent.

Most studies show that an effective way to appreciate the herbal effects of ther pillow is to use it for several days—up to a week—then tuck it away in an air-proof bag until resume use (or simply continue with it until scent has disappeared; the natural essence usually lasts 8 to 12 months even with regular use).

* Wellcat’s Flax Seed Eye Pillows

Whether to still one's thoughts for a restorative, mid-day respite (in theoffice, on the sofa, in a hammock!) or to still the words when enjoying the benefit of massage, a Flax Seed Eye Pillow is a firm but lightweight aid to relaxation.

Wellcat’s Flax Seed Eye Pillows are 4” x 8”, made with silk essence fabric and filled with organic flax seed. They block out light, soothe tension and relax facial muscles. Best of all, they quiet what’s called “mind chatter.” Unscented or Lavender.

Willows Masters' Pullows!

Willows Masters' 'Pullows'!

* 'Little Master' Sunil Gavaskar:

This is a part of the Interview wherein Sunil Gavaskar was asked referring to his Son Rohan's non-inclusion in the National Cricket Team.

What do you tell him after such disappointments?

'He has got to keep knocking on the doors louder. This is what I tell any youngster. If the knock on the selection committee's door after you scored a hundred is not loud enough, you score 200 and make it louder.
Then, you score 300 by which time, you knock on the door with your performance so much so that you are actually breaking the door down and making the selectors see you. That's the only way to go - keep performing consistently and better your performance every time.

* 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar:

Asked what would be his advice to a young player, Sachin Tendulkar said:

'I'd just tell him not to find shortcuts. He's got where he is because of talent, hard work, discipline, dedication and all the other qualities you need. Don't change. You just need to be yourself, and try to learn more about the game.
'The more hours you spend in the middle, the more you discover new things about your game, no matter how experienced you might be. Just be sincere and honest, and don't forget what got you there in the first place. This was actually my father's advice to me, and I'd like to pass it on to those who care to listen.'

Common OR "Pillow" Sense ...

Pillow Sense

On Behalf of Humanity: The Technological Edge - MODERN THOUGHT

Not surprisingly, the infusion of human mentality into the ancient biological process of technology--its animation with our penchants for dream and design--has lifted it into something that has literally transformed our entire planet perhaps more than all living processes before it. And with this human impulse writ large, and its capacity for destruction as well as construction, aggression as well as affection, has come all kinds of amplified perils. A gun is more dangerous than a fist or a claw, and an atomic bomb trumps them all in threat to ourselves and our planet.

Reasonable people thus find themselves not only appreciative of technology's benefits, but concerned about its dangers--concerned, to be more specific, about potentials for the human misuse of technology. ... Jacques Ellul and others claim that technology is essentially autonomous and out of human control; that it is in intrinsic and profound opposition to the natural world; that it is thus the leading source of danger to human beings and planet earth.

Such views not only miss the natural evolutionary situation of technology ... They overlook the fact that by far the worse threats to humanity are and always have been nontechnological in origin: disease, drought, earthquake, and all manner of natural calamities that befall us. And they overlook the only effective response we can mount to these dangers--the essential role of technology in the dissemination and organization of information, in the growth of knowledge, medicine, agriculture, and the myriad activities we perform daily.

GUNS, KNIVES, AND PILLOWS

Common sense is a good place to begin any serious investigation. The commonsense view of technology on the question of its good and evil consequences is that it is most like a knife--which can easily be used for good, as in cutting food, or bad, as in cutting people. The knife, and technology in general, are thus in this view thought to be thoroughly under human control. ... Can we think of technologies that are intrinsically biased toward good or bad purposes?

"Pillow" Your Anger!

"Pillow" Your Anger!

Dealing With Anger:

Let Off Steam

* “I think just letting it out in a quiet place is great. I go into the basement and just scream and let it all out.”

* “Scream into your pillow!”

* “Punch your pillow a couple times.”

Channel Anger Into Creative Activities

* “Listen to music or paint.”

* “I put my feelings into my artwork.”

Relax

* “Listen to calming music.”

* “Meditate with yoga.”

* “Count to ten and then let out a deep breath.”

* “I just relax and think about cool stuff.”

Get Active

* “Run laps.”

* “I go to the gym when I’m angry.”

These are all good ways of dealing with anger, and they all have one very important thing in common: none of them involve causing harm to yourself, other people, animals, or property.

... The idea is not to ignore your feelings or keep them inside, but to find ways to work through them so they don’t bother you as much. ... It’s all about finding the best way to work through your anger, as long as it’s not destructive, hurtful, or something that will make the situation worse.
