Hey u 2 even i wear a burkha.. so b careful while commenting on someone wearing one!! But whats wrong in wearing Jeans/skirt in a burkha as long as u dont try to show off what u r wearing under a burkha... and if it covers me head to toe, be it western wear or Indian wear, i m comfortable both with it.

We were not commenting on people wearing burkha. We like people wearing BURKHAS. I was of the opinion that I prefer Burkha-Wallis(read nice girls) from hyd and not NRI nakhra-wallis. And Azazel was of the opinion that these days burkha-wallis are also nakhra-wallis. So you see we were not talking about the BURKHA in anyway, just the burkha as an attribute of the group of people we were referring to.

But seriously what is the point wearing a mini-skirt or a JING-BANG dress under a burkha. In some ways we show off the clothes we wear and they make an impression about who we are. The burkha kinda takes that away from a lady. I see the BURKHA as a curb on individual expression. In this age it hardly serves the purpose that it was designed to serve a long time ago. But that is a whole another point.

IMO, Burkha works on the principle of "security by anonymity". But my point is "If you wear burkha do you have to give up everything for SECURITY? Is it worth it? Does the BURKHA actually protect you?"

Don’t mean to PRY open the Pandora’s box.. I was just musing. No offense meant to anybody

Sure she can express herself...........I didnt mean anything bad by my last comment. She ticked me off yesterday, so it was in response to that. If it were any other day, I would have just laughed after reading that. She was venting and I wanted to piss her off more by posting

Hey hey, i dint take it THAT seriously like u 2 r thinking... these boards r just to say out what u feel without getting hindered, so thats what i have done too. Nothing less, nothing more.

But I know the glances i get cuz of my burkha.. Just bcoz i wear one it duzn't mean that I m a typical Charminar/old city kinda girl [no offence meant (being on the safe side u c :)] . It is the thot process and the attitude that counts, not what u wear and what u don't.. jeez.. i think i m going down the feminist lane.. so lemme stop here... Again, i have enjoyed this talk and i have not taken anything personally Az and Badmash.

So what if a girl wears a mini or jeans under the burkha? Its not like shes showing it (the clothes) off.

Vaise, burkha pehno ya na pehno, ladkiyon ko pehle ankhoun pe parda hona chahiye.

You miss the point.. Clothes are worn to be shown off and to create an opinion about you. If you dont mean to show the clothes off why wear that Gucci or versace dress. They make a statement.. and in this world; sentiments apart; statements do count. I am all for showing it off. If you got it.. show it.

You mean they have to have dark shades on all the time. Is that what you meant by "ankhoun pe parda "??? :?

Its a metaphor. In Islam, men and women are supposed to have this invisible parda over their eyes. Meaning, they should filter out or avoid seeing bad things. Ok, I dont wanna get all into religious basics now. Chodo.

HP!!!! I resent that!!! :x

Look, I wasnt lecturing or policing.....I was just saying how its supposed to be done. Im not a fool, I know hardly any one does it the way theyre supposed to. I dont do it, and I dont preach what I myself dont practice. And Im not ashamed to admit it. Atleast I can speak the truth.
