When people spend hours and hours reading poetry and studying art and come back to detail a shade of blue in a painting or qoute a line from a forgotten poem, we look at them with reverance. When musicians name two raags and talk about the subtle differences between them, the auditorium is filled with thunderous applause. And yet, movies are bad.
if u read my post again u'll see that i started that line with I dont think... which means thats what I feel about movies.

i love movies and i see them for entertainment and thrill of watching it on big screen with great sound. period. i rememebr only the story and certain scenes/dialogs that i find memorable. i have better things to load my mind with (...i mean things I feel are better..:D)...

if u feel like remembering every insignificant bits of dialog and gestures, suit yrself.

fyi, i have no taste for poetry, painitings, classical music etc.

i listen to music and read novels for the same reason as i watch movies.

The easiest way to hurt someone is by saying "get a life" when that person is ranting/raving about something he likes. CAD bhai really cut me deep on this one.

As I wandered around the Internet, I came to a site that provided me with sufficient counter against those kinda comments which I face on a regular basis. Here they are -

We get accused of “earnestness” from time to time, because, after all, it’s just a movie. But if more people go to movies than read books, than vote, than go to church, than do anything else of cultural, political, and metaphysical significance, then we think it’s time movies were given the serious and yes, even earnest attention that they deserve

Another point

It strikes us as odd—and we wonder why the industry itself isn’t insulted—that the world’s most expensive art form (save for some architecture) gets “covered” by mass media critics who take their notebooks into the theater, see the film once, write a 100–300 word review for their next-day deadline, and call themselves professionals. We grade undergraduate book reports by higher standards than that. That’s like taking one look at a building and giving your assessment of its structural integrity without ever walking through it. (Though if your building happens to be a façade on a Hollywood set, maybe film reviews are doing the job the industry pays them to do: don’t look too closely, don’t walk inside and look around; don’t ask questions about structural integrity.)

The point I want to bring to ur attention is the budget thingie.

Cool thread.

I’ve been trying to write a review of “The Commitments” all morning,

and I haven’t been able to do it. I would point you in the direction of

a good review, but most don’t rate it nearly as highly as I do.

It’s a movie I’ve grown up with, that I’ve watched about

15 times in the past 13 years, and each time it speaks to

me in a different way. It’s hilarious, sad, and hope inspiring,

often all at once. It makes me laugh and cry, and by the end

I’ve fallen in love with the characters again; I feel like taking a

pen and continuing their lives. I don’t want it to end but I realise

that it’s already said everything there is to say.

Those who have seen the film will say I’m going completely overboard, and I probably am, but there’s something about this film that

has worked its way into my brain, settled down in

my medulla oblongata and every so often sends out

signals for me to see it again, to force it on friends,

to buy copies for peoples birthdays, and post on websites like this

to try to get people to watch my favourite movie from my home country.
