Secret Societies and Brotherhoods

Recently finished couple of Dan Brown books - 'Da Vinci Code' & 'Angels & Demons'. Both the books seemed to filled up with messages hidden in Ancient Architecture, Paintings and a lot of secret brotherhoods existing. try http://www.danbrown.com



For example, Illuminati - a secret brotherhood of cool guys wanting to protect Science from the Church... or Priory of Sion - a society entrusuted with task of carrying on secretly the legacy that Jesus was just another normal guy & was married ... as opposed to what the Church would have us believe. or same is conveyed in lot of da vinci's paintings



It got me wondering, whether our Indian Culture & Religions are also filled with such concepts of Secret Brotherhoods, or ancient architectures and paintings actually conveying a cryptic message.

I've heard that one too. It is believed that waaay below the tombs is a sealed room where the Shivling is actually kept.

Mayawati tried something very simple involving Taj Mahal ... and was ousted of power.

RSS has had lot of similar issues .... like the krishna-janam bhoomi in mathura ... but all of them have been on the back burner during the 6 years BJP was in power

i dont think any party or group can even talk abt doing a Ayodhya or anything remotely similar to a national heritage like Taj Mahal esp after mayawati fiasco

On the subject of myths like the Tajmahal one, I've heard some people claim that the black stone at the Kaba (sp?) in Mecca is actually a Shivling (Some interpretations going as far as the stone being the 13th Jyotirling). I mean even if what they say is true....fine...go ahead...take it as a Shivling and worship it. But don't deny others the right to revere it in the way they want to. Wait....Stop....Why am I pontificating like this? As CAD rightly put it, in RSS waalon ko aur kuch kaam dhandha nahi hai.



On topic :

From what I gathered from the starting post for this thread, the hiker's talking about groups that have formed to preserve some legacy. And given our culture, we're a very open country. There's nothing really secret here. Groups wanting to protect anything can do it openly. Even if what they are protecting is a farce. That explains why we have a VHP, an RSS, a SIMI, a Lashkar-e-Taiyyaba, a Jaish-e-Muhammad, an ULFA, open support to LTTE thrown in our face.

As for secret societies (not because they want to be secret, but because they aren't innovative enough to come out in the open - that was the marketing professional in me speaking. Apologies), here's something that you'd want to see...but hate seeing it equally.

On the topic, i have kinda started agreeing with the perfectionist abt our culture being open enough for not having such brotherhoods ... but what is strange is all the other cultures from egyptian to japanese has there share of such brotherhoods ..

& Alexis - speaking of the US, did you ever notice that the great seal of US which is on the back of Dollar Bills is a pyramid with the all seeing eye on the top and Latin reference to 'New Secular Order'. A pyramid would be a totally unAmerican symbol to put on the Dollar.

It is believed that the Seal is actually the Symbol of Illuminati and the Brotherhood of Illuminati had been in the Upper echelons of Power, in US.

By the way, if any body saw first Tomb-Raider : the one with sexy Angelina Jolie , you would remember the reference to Illuminati as the group trying to find the Pyramid-ish triangle which can control time

That is actually true ... the only twist being that Illuminati had infiltrated the ranks of Masons during the early times of US Govt being formed.. after they had been kinda black listed in Europe. What is interesting to note is that there are a few Free Masonic lodges existing in India too .. read it in TOI
