Girl done to death in U.S.; husband's hand suspected

VIJAYAWADA, JUNE 23. In a gruesome incident, a girl hailing from the city was killed allegedly by her husband in the United States recently. Mandanapu Praveen Kumar, a software engineer in the U.S., allegedly killed his wife, Divya, and cut her body into pieces. The police who recovered a suitcase containing the remains of Divya's body from a dustbin, informed her parents about the death of their daughter.

According to the girl's father, Kappera Satyanarayana, Divya was married to Praveen Kumar, a resident of Padmaraonagar in Hyderabad, in 1999. Praveen Kumar was given a dowry of Rs. 8 lakhs cash, 80 tolas of gold, a plot in Kodad in Nalgonda district and five kg silver at the time of marriage. Praveen Kumar took her to the U.S. where Divya was also employed in a women's bank.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana said the trouble began after Praveen Kumar started harassing Divya asking her to convince her parents to marry her younger sister, Deepti, to his brother, Rajesh. Divya's parents finally gave in and performed Deepti's marriage with Rajesh by paying a dowry of Rs. 2 lakhs along with other items like gold and silver. But Deepti too was harassed by her husband and in-laws for more dowry and unable to bear the torture she returned to Vijayawada recently.

Mr. Satyanarayana said Divya was in touch with them till 10 days ago, but there had been no phone call from her since then. However, the parents received a call from the U.S. police the other day informing them about Divya's murder. "We tried to contact our daughter's in-laws who left for Muscat in the United Arab Emirates a couple of days ago,'' he said.He demanded that stringent action be initiated against Divya's husband and parents.

will this be an eye opener for the the censor board to totally crub gurseome voilence from the sliver screen please...

Btw, dude... that Divya had a restraining order from loacl court. She used to harass her husband. What can the Indian censor board do abt that?

Restraining order : A court order to prevent a spouse from doing some act that may harm the other spouse.

i got some dope on this case. divya n her husband had many marital quarrels where the local police had to play peace keeper. after one such fight, the husband got the restraining order against divya.

with the demands he made n how they cheated her sis, its a tragedy she cudnt kill him first.

...and his family conveniently escaped to the Gulf.
