a few 100 years ago, Marathas spread their kingdom till tanjavur (Tanjore) in TN and their people are the ancestors of the Tanjore Maharashtrians of today. even today the descendents of the Maratha rulers are living in Tanjore. their life style has totally become like local tamils' but in language they speak a strange tamil mixed marathi.

i didnt see a strange mix.....my friends speak tamil and Marathi fluently and pure....as others say that depends on family or individual language skills again the referee speaketh

Yea Rajnikanth was frm a maharashtrian family settled in karnataka... But his roots trace back to a village in tamil nadu. i dont rem the village exactly now. His ancestors were pure tamils, who migrated to maharashtra and later on settled in karnataka...



Btw i got some interesting piece of info. Tamil nadu was never ruled by a proper Tamilian? MGR was from a mallu family settled in tamil nadu, Jayalalitha is from a kannada family settled in Tamil Nadu, Karunanidhi is from a telugu family settled in tamil nadu. STRANGE
