Movie review : Yuva (Hindi)

Yuva is a story of 3 men coming from different walks of life and how their lives intersect at the new Howrah bridge on Kolkatha. These three men are most likely to remain un-met (if you will) in real life. Yuva takes on this hypothetical situation with a ‘what-if they meet?” question and provides a rather ordinary narrative. Three-quarter of the film focuses on just introduction. It is break time and we still know nothing about the third character.

After the elaborate introduction and many attempts to try and really make us ‘feel’ the characters and their outlook towards life, the much awaited connection between the three parallel stories just fizzes out like soda. It is like the story where, there was this king who was very brave and did not fear death. One day his kingdom was being invaded and his solders were slaughtered. He had noother option but to go and fight. He put-on his gear to go to the battlefield. His kingdom knew that if the king himself goes to the battle, he would win the battle. But then, when the king sat on the saddle he slipped, broke his neck and died on the spot.

You are like, Pooh!, that’s it!! . Yuva is something like this. But may be a little better.

You see the movie is not a bad one. It is just that, the director has spent way too much time in ‘introduction’ that we at some point forget the existence of the other two protagonists. However, the narrative pace is great. You don’t get bored. Something or the other keeps you occupied. Its either the great background score or the breathtaking cinematography and the story twist itself.

Its definitely worth a watch. Atleast it is 100 times better than Main Hoon Na.

BTW : The casting is tamil version seems better.

Ya do that. Esha is damn cute. The cinematography of 'Khuda Hafiz' is fantastic.

my definition of Movie rating is:

10-(a+b)

a=no.of times i look at my watch

b=no.of times i stand up to stretch my legs

in MHN i got up 2-3 times :roll:

and i looked at watch some 2-3 times. So, MHN given 10 - 2.5 - 2.5 = 5 points

Troy: b= 0, a=1, so i give 9 points

lets wait and see how Yuva will rate in "the rating of Zee: the Colossus"

Yuva Roxxx..

Watched the hindi version first day first show. Mani is simply brilliant. Amazingly he could make ppl like kareena kapoor, vivek oberoi act. :shock:

and somehow esha deol was looking cute, and kareena was looking simple..

Highly Recommended Movie.

Hmm yea better than MHN. :oops:

Ps: This comes frm a Die hard SRK fan. :oops:

saw the movie yesterday! wat terrible screenplay :evil:

something happens to mani wen he sets foot onto hindi movies!! the movie was not gripping in any sense. also i think the music of rehman could have been used better.phew!! just another dumb movie. i dont care for all the technicalities of the movie like camera cinematograohy n stuff! all i want is a gripping entertaining movie..this is not either of them :oops:

When was the movie meant to be 'gripping'. The plot was out months before release. The public expectations were realistic.

The movie won't run anywhere else apart from cities and over seas.

went to Anand, couldnt get the tickets.. black me 120/- bucks :shock:

went n saw Runaway Jury at Sangeet instead.. which turned out to be an OK flick.. cant expect much from a movie adapted from a John Grisham novel anyway.. decent 'nuff :roll:

I saw telugu version of it y`day. the message was clear....new generation shld enter active politics.....but wht i was expecting was...new generation enters active politics and does something radical to change the face of the city...state.....but any way the movie was worth the money....and yes 1000 times better than MHN

damn it, i prepared so hard for the exam, got almost all answers right and ended up with a C grade :lol:

Forgot to mention, The movie is bleakly inspired by Mexican a movie called Amores Perros, directed by Inarritu.
If u can get hold of that movie, please do watch it. Its an amazing journey
