hello all!!

Hello all,



I am a noob to this board.. have been following it for quite a while, but was too lazy to post anything :P. I hope to have a good time here! :)

It's been a while since I saw one of you guys around. Not many Ilayanaraja fans surface these days I'm afraid.



Anyway, enjoy your ride here. And remember that this is a li'l different from Kashmiru loya, and Kanyakumari, o chandamaama. Hope you understand my nausea causing blabber...

LP, Ilayaraja is actually a legendary music director.



He had dominated telugu and tamil cinema for over a decade and a half with his fantastic tunes. I think he holds the record for having composed music for the most number of movies by any person. Almost every movie coming out of the south in the eighties through into the early nineties had music by him.



Now, his son is composing music. And yeah, he also sang a bit as you mentioned.

he is still pretty strong in Tamil.. If u havent yet listened to this, check out "Chirugaali veechene" from his latest Telugu release "Sivaputrudu" (Dubbed from "Pithaamagan" in Tamil) If you dont care for the lyrics, I wld strongly urge you to listen to the tamil original.. RP patnaik sang the telugu version and he screwed it up big time :evil:

His two sons - Karthik Raja (Remember "kahthe hai jisko mohabbat , woh ho thum" from Grahan? and another tamil & telugu film by the same name "Ullaasam") Yuvan Shankar Raja (Hmm.. his most famous album is a Tam film called "Povellam Kettupaar") compose music as does his Daughter Bhavatharini (Shibhana starrer Mitr - My friend) She is a good singer too!

He has a very rustic/rural sounding voice - check out "Thenpaandi cheemaiyile" from Naayagan or "Potri paaradi penne" from Thevar magan ( Murise pandaga poota in Kshatriya putrudu) and for me his best - "Thendral vanthu Theendumbothu" from Avathaaram.. too bad it wsnt dubbed into Telugu :(
