Their live shows are more of antics than anything else. E.g. they'll belt out a medley of 10 different popular numbers (with a few hindi numbers thrown in between - one of them being 'We will rock you' with Hindi lyrics - i hope you get an idea) and you'll have to go thru it with a smiling face.

Luckily I didnt have to buy any tickets the last time around coz it was a college fest. Paying to watch them would require a real pretension of enjoyment.

A couple of songs by them r good.....but that guy palash sen hams a lot.

once in a live show on TV that guy tried to sing AR Rahmans Vande Maataram and made a mess of it.

and there last single Dil ko Jeetenge was horrible.....

Was it at Vasavi on march 10?? Well, even we had planned to go for that but later decided not to. A week or so befoer that Euphoria was supposed to perform in a colege in Saidabad (I forget teh name of teh college) anyway, once we were at teh venue guess wat Palash Sen announced ? That were not gonna perform that evning and so asked teh crowd to return the next day. Well, tehre were remours of such a possibility but we refused to believ it and went all the way there!!Anyway, one nice long drive it was :D

Tonite even if it is as bad as u say ...I think I will be ok with the fact that I got to spend time with frends on a weekday. Also, isn't teh view from teh rock garden supposed to be damn good at nite..will let ya know tomorrow :)

So,

Durgam Cheruvu is BEAUTIFUL!! That's the only word to describe the place!!

Euphoria... na... dunno if i will be willing to pay even Rs. 100 to see them perform...

Plus the fact that it is just Rs. 100... will attract a lotta riff-raff as well

Indian ocean is not that great either. Too many rehashes of the same notes. I've done a few events with leading indian bands and here's what I think of the scene now.

[bold]Indipop[/bold] - RIP. The less said the better. What started off with Alisha etc. indianising famous pop ditties slowly matured into a strong starcast of Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Hema Sardesai et al. But then, there was a remix deluge and all else was submerged.

[bold]Rock n Metal[/bold] - Great promise shown by Gary Lawyer but dope got the better of him. Had a few good acts like Indus Creed, Parikrama etc. but they burned out fast. Have a few promising bands like Sledge, Metakix etc.

I don't even feel like mentioning bands like Euphoria, Bombay Vikings etc. here. But since this post exists due to their name being mentioned, this is what I have to say about them.....T H E Y B L O W!!!!!

indian ocean not that great, eh? are you out of yer mind? i advise u to listen to all those bass runs and the complex song arrangements...

and yes Euphoria does suck. BIG TIME :!:

i had the unpleasant opportunity of watching them play at VASAVI COLLEGE...they sucked...they original bass player didnt show up...the other guitarist was playing "dummy" bass...

they keyboardist was head banging...yes...headbanging to hindi songs...funny i couldnt hear anything he was playing.

they played OLD MCDONALD HAD A FARM!!!

is that pathetic or what :?: :!:

they also played some hindi film songs...yes...FILM SONGS

DIL CHAHTA GAY!!!

JUMP was on their setlist too...must have given EDDIE VAN HALEN a reason not to recover from cancer.

dude, me discovered IO when they did a show @ Durgam Cheruvu a few months back, bought a coupla albums of theirs' Kandisa n Jhini .. these guys have impressed me like no other Indian band ever did in any genre! n im sayin this being a huge metal/rock fan, having gone over their songs over n over again.. i dun think there is a lotta similarity b/w their various songs/albums.. each has got its own identity/feel ..hell, they even sing em in various languages.. the musicianship is also very tight, not too many bassists have that feel in the instrument  also, impressive vocals.. all 3 guys :!: free flowing/rythmic/melodic/traditional n all very Hindustani

Have a few promising bands like Sledge, Metakix etc

there r quite a few good/promising bands on the horizon gettin the opportunities n makin the most of 'em.. Sledge, sadly, is not of those bands.. they've stagnated beyond belief.. unless they come up with some good originals, they'll just fade away from the scene

Let me know if you can say the same for their next album. If at all they do come out with one.

Hmmm.....haven't been to any show ever since i landed in hyderabad. If what you're saying is true....its sad.

Forget all this.....whats better than not having too much work in office....posting on FH.....and listening to some cult Woodstock? Who even cares about IO or sledge? Its Jimi Hendrix, Santana & Joe Satriani....its Heaven.

Too many questions for you here Azazel.

You seem to be bigtime into music. and our tastes are similar. Who are your favourites apart from Satriani & Hendrix? What medium do you keep your music on?

I'm heavy into classic rock; my faves being Led Zeppelin, Guns-n-Roses, Pearl Jam, Scorpions, The Doors, Joe Satriani & Bon Jovi. But my music Gods are Pink Floyd.

Also listen to a lot of unplugged stuff; my faves there being Alanis Morisette, Eric Clapton & Nirvana (Live at New York is the only Nirvana album i like).

The list goes on. I'm also into old hindi film music and have great Kishore Kumar & Mohd. Rafi collections.

I have all my music on MP3. Will put up a post with my collection list. Do let me know if you're interested in sharing something with me. This is for others too.
