like Groucho Marx said: I find the TV set very educative, the minute someone switches it on, i go into another room n read a book

the state of affairs of programming in India has definitely taken a dip, thanks mostly to a certain female, Ms.Ekta Kapoor, tho i admit she is a damn good businesswoman.. i mean who can imagine churnin millions by feedin crap to the junta!! so, just post wateva u love/hate on TV these days.. or u believe its insulting to even be seen near one

i haven't switched on the tube in nearly 2 months now - tho my mother insists on watching every serial that begins with a K or an A or a B, or a C, or a D, or an E, or a F. or a G.....er ....you get the drift right?

whatever i hear in the distance.....sounds like trash!

but then it wud also be totally unfair to call all Hindi serials crap!

So many of the English ones fall in the same genre!

Baywatch, The Bold N The Beautiful are the ones from the top of my head

There are some of them that I really like tho - Monk and Becker are two of 'em.

I would've added Friends to that list but then the stuff there is getting really old! It is entertaining old, but it is old!

About the informative channels -

The History Channel seemed like a good endeavour but the only hitch is that the voice overs use really high-flown English. It would take a Premchand to write and understand something like that

NDTV 24/7 is good stuff

Headlines Today is super glam bs - dunno if uve noticed this or no - but the newsreaders have absolutely no lip-sync

dunno dude... its a lot like saying that alcohol is evil.... alcohol is a substance that is advertised, consumed, loved, hated and also the most favoured drink in porn films.... but it just is.. there is nothing malicious bout it.. it does not think on its own.. its there for the consumer and that is where the problem starts.. same can be said for tv.... its a means of propagating views, opinions and the fantasy world of who is now probably the most hated woman in india, ekta kapoor... it has as many pros as cons.. it depends on the viewer and his preferences... there is a wide plethora of knowledge both constructive and destructive and in the end it all boils down to the individual squatting in front of the tube.... its like the biggest candy store in the world and we are all children(minus the parents) and diabetes is the furthest thing from our minds....

whatta load o crap.....

well i have to admit that when i am at home i watch tv as long as i have nothing more interesting to do.

I mostly watch sports, news and music channels and at times discovery, ngc and animal planet. but they dont always have good programs to air.

when the history channel came around I thot it was good, but then they keep repeating one story 3-4 times a day and most of the history is american history which is no history at all :?

there is hardly any coverage given to India.

the news channels show news in between ads, except ndtv, dd and headlines today (must say two of there female news readers are....) but that doesnt man i watch it for the news readers 8)

As a kid i remember growing up watching serials like, Karamchand, Malgudi Days(the best), byomkesh bakshi, humlog, buniyaad then some stupid guy introduced the idea of commercial breaks. and since then it has never been the same.

and now? well saas and bahu rule.

i can go on and on.......aap bhi to kuch boliye?

Man these Saas bahu serials get on to my nerves..( even tho i dont get to see them unless m in hyd in ma house..)

To be frank for the past 4 years i havent seen much of televison for timepass except for music and sports... i love watching soccer.. playin too..( btw wat happened to the soccer club of hyd..:( Ditchooos  )

Friends..( but then i watch frnds on comp, i have got all the seasons), same goes with southpark, But i relish watching {b] WONDER YEARS[/b], i haev grown up watching wonder years.. it was ma fav.. cud relate it to maself ;), good background score as wel..

Hmm wat else?? yea News, CNBC, NDTV24 etc.... and AXN

What i hate?

I hate the telugu serials the most  followed by hindi and then stupid english serials on the lines of friends..

Then i hate DD Pandhula Pempakam... and UGC..( even tho i had once acted for UGC in ma 11th class :D)

K serials....hahahah..they crack me up ...sometimes when i'm dead bored with absolutely nothing to do i get my dad sit with me and watch that stuff ... slap-stick comedy ... by the end of it we're rolling on the floor holding stomachs .... kind of like what we do at James Bond movies. they should have seat belts at theatre screening those ..so tht ppl dont keep rolling off their chairs with fits.

But really, AXN ranks highest... seen some of the best shows there ...Alias, 24, CSI ... addictive, and dont let u realize your brain power is under utilised. And even the reality shows arent bad ... the amazing race, fear factor.

I've been watching Monk regularly ..Sholoup is amazing ... and yeah Becker sarcasm drips acid ...but Fraiser never fails!

History Channel in Hindi is such a pity, i was so excited when the promos were being aired.

I like Discovery over NG. But NG specials are really good.

News channels ... definately NDTV and CNBC...but BBC is cool too ... dont watch it so much for news ... but the other stuff they have like Clickonline, Science shack etc are really good.

Now suddenly i'm getting the feeling i'm i watch too much of TV  ... *justifying to mself : you dont watch too much of it , just the best of it ..phew.
I dont suffer from insanity, i enjoy it !

soon after coming bak from worl daily, i unwind either before the TV or the PC (inevitably FullHyd.com!)

on TV, i prefer Movies (mainly HBO, Star, MGM), News (mainly AajTak, NDTV, BBC, TV9) or Cartoons....now n then i browse to nature channels and History, but they all seem to repeat themselves. I also like music channels, but cant listen to them continously...they all seem to turn into sick, endlessly repeating movie ads.

rest of channels...well...who has the time...i've only got time at night upto 1130pm! then by 12 its beauty sleep, with dreams interrupted by my baby's wailing!

but along came pogo and restored my faith in cartoons

the music channels - i dont watch any

but if im in the mood for total crap - then i tune into itv

its a barrel of laughs

but if u really wanna have some fun - u shud try watching sun tv and ss music's shows

i dont understand a word of any of these languages but im always inevitably laughing my guts out.

i try to catch CSI:Miami ,its cool.. anything to do with crime/forensics gets my antennae workin..Wild On anyone  ? dun temme u dun like travel shows... , Just Shoot Me is hilarious man.. got bored of Friends.. movies these days r generally repeated like Babuji on ITV !

Bakra on mtv  Cyrus rox man.. also, the spoofs they keep inventin on V n MTV , good ones.. Lola Kutty's Dance classes??

that abt it i guess, NDTV is good.. like the FBI Files n New Investigators n Dicsovery .. History Channel + Cartoon Network in hindi is crap :!:

SS has some decent coverage of local rock/metal music scene..
