boy the only reason you have anybody(ray included) playing the guitar is coz hendrix opened his loins and delivered to these mere mortals the divine gift of the electric guitar...
children these days...

Well said, badcash_high. Couldn't have said it better myself. Jimi Hendrix - He is the Man!

Although I cannot pick one from this amazing brood of musicians, I will have to go with Slash. Why? In my case....boyhood hero = Lifetime Favourite.

In the local circuit.....Prabhu (Shadrach) and Subhash kick ass.

well...giftie, tony is a riff machine...he's composed the best riffs ever...symptom of the universe, sweat leaf, the wizard, heaven and hell, sabbath bloody sabbath and the list goes on and on...

anyway...here's my list of my fav guitarists:

Metal Guitar Duos:

1. Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King (slayer)

2.Tipton and Downing(priest)

3.Eric Peterson and Alex Sckolnic(TestamenT)

4.Samoth and Ishan (EMPEROR!!!!!!!!!)

5.Marty Friedman and Jason Becker(Cacophony)

7.Karl Sanders and Dallas Toller Wade(nile)

8.Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt

Jazz Guitar Gods:

1.John Mclaughlin(The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti, One Truth Band)

speaking of THE MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, i strongly recommend that u guys get hold of their album called THE INNER MOUNTING FLAME. Sheer musical ecstacy! u definitely do not need to get high when u listen to theis album...the music takes u on a high. Trust me.

And then, there is SHAKTI WITH JOHN MCLAUGHLIN....Zakir Hussain on tabla, and L. Shankar on violin. Speaking of L.Shankar, he added another string to the violin to add "expression" to his playing. their album NATURAL ELEMENTS is worth buying.

2.Al Di Maeola

Check out his album called THIS IS JAZZ. Available on SONY MUSIC. very accessible. this guy is one of the best guitarists ever!

3.Paco De Lucia

Ah well...what can i say about this musician...i fell in love with his music when i heard his classical influenced song called MANHA DE CARNAVAL.

MUST HAVE:

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE IN SAN FRANSICO. JOHN McLAUGHLIN, AL DI MAEOLA AND PACO DE LUCIA. To say that this albun is great would be a cruel understatement. u have to listen to it "feel" the music

GUARDIAN ANGEL, TALES OF THE BLACK FOREST, and MEDITERRANEAN SUN are sure to blow ur heads off!!!

4. George Benson

BREEZIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BLUES:

1.Stevie Ray Vaughn

one of the pioneers of the blues guitar...often termed as "the saviour of blues". Songs like Mary Had A Little Lamb, Crossfire and You'd Better Leave My Girl Alone(hell yeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!) catapaulted this amazing musician into the big league. One of ERIC CLAPTON'S close friends. SRV worked as a dishwasher but then pursued a career in blues.

ALBUMS:

1.TEXAX FLOOD

2.BLUES AT SUNRISE(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

3.IN STEP

4.SOUL TO SOUL

thats all the SRV i could find here

2.Albert King

3.Buddy Guy

4.John Mayall

5.Clapton

GODS OF THE SHRED GUITAR!!!:

1.Joe Satch!!!

taught many of the "monsters of guitar". Kirk Hammett(Metallica), Alex Skolnic(TestamenT), Stevie Vai to name a few.

2.Steve Vai.

3.Eric Johnson(!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

4.Jeff Beck

5.MIchaelangelo(the speed freak!!!!)

The worst part is that these are revived by newbies who disappear after the first post and we are left with task of spamming on it for days.
