The Gods of the Telugu Film Industry - Spare Me!

by Five7Jaan » Mon Apr 12, 2004 11:33 pm

The blockbuster hits: Saami [Tamil] and MunnaBhai M.B.B.S. [Hindi] are getting a new makeover.

The Gods of the Telugu Film Industry, spare me from this! Why can't the Industry come up with something more entertaining? Even the comedy is stale nowadays. The same crowd with the same old routines.

And, why do the remakes always involve stars like Chiranjeevi that desperately need to retire from this type of roles or hand over these to the younger crowd?

Don't get me wrong, I am still his fan but I cannot stand him parading around 18-year olds in a song item.

have u seen krishna in action? chiru is better i say!

but still u r right...in tagore the heroine looked like she cud be his daughter! it was pathetic!

i think all the senile heros like to rediscover their manliness and reassure themselves on this point by pretending to be young n acting with minor gals!

anyway i remember old telugu movies where pot bellied old heros wud be shown as college students!...and a plump, amithab-wigged NTR matching steps with a young Sridevi...that reminds me...in my childhood, there was this NTR movie called Superman...yes u read right! NTR wears atight superman costume on his pot belly and flies....

dude even at 70 plus sean connery is far more good looking than all the telegu actors put together... i'm not talking about their acting prowess or lack of it but sean atleast looks good enough with jones despite the huge age diff.... the ugliness of a telegu actor is directly proportional to the attractiveness of the heroine.....

this is the problem with opinions... it leads to a lot of generalisations.. not fasicnated with looks but since the argument had to do with looks i pointed out what i thought was obvious... maybe my point of reference should have been bollywood... i wonder what you'd say then????

"Entry Free" ...

by Happy Hyderabadi » Tue Apr 13, 2004 2:49 pm

Some Years ago, perhaps two decades ago, there was this Super Hero's Movie at a Theatre with its sign "Entry Free" ... people thronged to it expecting some "free" entertainment. But having to see the SH in almost every Scene for 179 Min out of a possible 180 Min, playing 5 Roles (except that of the Heroine ...), the people wanted to rush out of the Theatre. Only to be pushed back in by the Door Keepers saying, "Hee hee ... Entry Free ... but Exit Not Free ... Pay 25 (or so) and go ... " The wags say, the People by and large paid as demanded and rushed out to escape from the "Chitra Himsa"... The Sh Movie was a Box Office "Hit"!

in Entrapment 70+ Sean does NOT pretend to be a 30+ man romancing a young lady. in one scene he even shows that he's unable to perform coz of his age.

do chiranjeevi or krishna portray such honesty n their actual age while romancing teenage girls?

even in Bond films James bond is suppossed to be aged around 45 to 50 and only the actors in that age group portray that role.

this problem is not only with telugu films, but most indian films, esp south films.

i admire amithab that he is playing his age with dignity instead of making a fool of himself like chiru, krishna, rajnikant etc etc. (i consider Bade Miya Chote Miya an embarrasing aberration).

thats the problem with most indians: IDOL WORSHIP.

they can neither point out nor see that their idol is wrong, films or politics.

most of those fans are illiterate or semi literate, unemployed with nothing better to do. how else can u explain the popularity of an obese n ugly NTR (with wig) romancing Sridevi or Jayaprada?

Azazel, mammujaan, what is up with the pictures for your avatars?

Al Capone?

This is not you at all! I think that warrior anime was the best. Come back.

ZC and others, the reason I didn't include all the other names you have mentioned is because it is too long to write and naming Chiru is liking naming all his age group [but I have not seen any recent movies with his peers pretending to fall for a college girl]

And the wig issue, yecch! Don't get me started!

Anyways. HH, that little poem[?] was hilarious! Thank you.

I am Prosaic, er, Which "Little Poem"? Re: ...othe

Er, Which "Little Poem" Ms F7J ... I am Prosaic.

"Entry Free" Retold, with SH "Revealed" as NTR ... Now Guess the Movie!

Some Years ago, perhaps two decades ago, there was this Super Hero NTR's Movie at a Theatre with its sign "Entry Free" ... people thronged to it expecting some "free" entertainment. But having to see NTR in almost every Scene for 179 Min out of a possible 180 Min, playing 5 Roles (except that of the Heroine ...), the people wanted to rush out of the Theatre. Only to be pushed back in by the Door Keepers saying, "Hee hee ... Entry Free ... but Exit Not Free ... Pay 25 (or so) and go ... " The wags say, the People by and large paid as demanded and rushed out to escape from the "Chitra Himsa"... The NTR Movie, nevertheless, was a Box Office "Hit"!

It is reliably learnt that the Many Mutual Funds afloat now, learnt their "Entry Free", "Exit Pay" Formula for their Products from that NTR's "Entry Free" Movie of YesterYears!
