S.D Burman songs, food for soul

by akhilis2cool » Thu Apr 08, 2004 8:02 pm

Hey guys and gals,

have u heard classics by SD Burman. I recently bought a CD containing about 50 of his greatest hits. they are terrific. The first song, Mera sundar sapna beet gaya by shamshad begum, can bring tears to any ones eyes. If u r a heart broken lover then keep away.

Even his fun songs, mostly sung by kishore kumar, like the ones from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi are great.

CAnt believe msot of them were sung at least 3 decades ago!!

I can go on and on.

Todays remix guys feed of the masters work.

I listened to the original version of 'Sayyian dil mein aana re' it is great as well.

Any one listening?

SD BURMAN: Easily the best ever.

There are abt 50 of them, some of the best r as follows:

Waqt ne kiya kya hasee sitam

Tum na jaane kis jahaan mein kho gaye

Mere saajan hai us paar

Teri duniya mein jeene se to behtar ke mar jaayen

Hai apna dil to aawara

Jalte hain jiske liye, teri aankhon ke diye

Saiyyaan dil mein aana re

Tadbeer se bighde hui taqdeer banale

Dukhi man mere

Khoya khoya chaand

Khilte hain gul yahaan

Thandi hawaayen lehra ke aayen

and many more. :)

its a priced possession, i bought it recently.

There's this song called "Wahan Kaun Hai Tera" in Guide that was sung by S D Burman himself. Really like that.

Then, there's one called "Doli Mein Bithayike" in Amar Prem that's a real lovely song - also sung by S D Burman himself.

It must be that Song with this in it: "Musafir, Jayega Kahan"!

Yes, SDB's Voice had that mournful, "soul"ful, quality ...

My pleasure

I like Teri duniyaan mein for the way it is sung....espicially the second stanza.

SAiyyan dil mein aana re, is a hit remix today. the original is sung by shamshaad begum.

Abt the CD,

It's made by SA RE GA MA HMV. Costs Rs. 350. There are two cd's in it.

I think the album is titled SD Burmans Classics. Just for further identification marks; the cover is blue in colour and has a B&W picture of SD himself on it.
