Writers of Hydi Unite

Hi,
I was wondering whether there are people in Hydi interested in writing prose, fiction, non-fiction and in literature (primarily in English, but Urdu poetry is equally welcome, as I am yet to come across a language that lends itself to poetry as beautifully as Urdu does). It would be great if we could form a local \"Writer\'s Group\" of Hyderabad and meet occassionally to discuss works in English and foster the spirit of writing and constructive critiquing.

Nice thoughts Anand... I know Urdu a little bit. But let\'s concentrate on English writing - that\'s where the big bucks are.

Money comes in pretty late for Indian writers (the competition is high as the language is foreign) and we do not have a very strong and aggressive publishing industry. So for now, the drive for forming this group is primarily intellectual stimulation and forming a coterie. I have read and heard of such localities abroad (esp. France and England) where artists of various kinds crowd together in a particular area of the city and soo that area becomes known as a artists haunt. Most of them take up dwellings out there. I do not have such plans or ideas, but would love to see such a community take birth. So help me everyone.

Yes, all the information regarding the club would be posted out here. I was hoping that there would be atleast a dozen members when we start, so I am postponing the club formation for some more time. It is wonderful to have all of you eager to join this club. What plans do you have? What kind of activities would you like to introduce into this club? Do share your ideas. I have plans of involving the members in different writing exercises. The group would act as editor/critic to the works submitted by each person. This would help us hone our editorial skills (trust me, this is one of the most essential skill for a writer). Apart from this, we would read and vivisect popular literary works (short stories as well as full length novels). The members are also welcome to submit their stories for critique. Sounds interesting? What else could we do?
