Laidback ??

by Mona Lisa Smile » Tue Apr 06, 2004 3:21 pm

Just out of curiosity..... how did the Hyd'is get to be epitomised with laid-backness.

And do we really like to be laidback ?

that's prolly cos this city is not as fast paced as some of the others n is still being counted in the country's topmost.

n i like being laid back - as long as it doesn't interfere with my work

Yes only if being here for 10 yrs counts as a new comer!

And I am a lot more laidback than your traditional Hyd'i. Some friends would tell me, even an atom bomb wouldnt ruffle me a bit. :)

I just was wondering how so much laidback-ness was attributed to the city. And if its infectious as well? And if that is why ppl from many fast-paced cities dont like it out here?

Yep, you got that right, Ctrl bhai. As far as I know, we're the only city whose residents think that turning up half an hour late for an appointment is being on time ;)

Hey, I'm not complaining, btw. I love being laid back and lazy, and if anyone would rather lead a more fast-paced life, it's either "Light le le baap!" or shift to another city. So there!

Hey....salam...namaste....etc.

Ahhh....those hyderabadi days.....I call those days my "golden days"..(as you probably noticed (my id) i am not in hyd now.)

The person who said...being late half an hour late was just nomal.....I AGREE.. :D (to everything...from dawaths....to interviews...to ANYTHING)...hydies are just relaxed!....I LOVED IT.

Now when i came to states.....EVERYTHING WAS ON TIME.....well as time passed we got use to this habbit as well.....(took a long time though) :)

We'er here for about 5 years now....and about 6 months ago..some of my cousins came here.....DUDE ..WERE THEY LAID BACK!! ........so a good advise: if you are plannig to go abroad......try (AT LEASTTTT TRY) and practice to do stuff on time.....

I liked the hyderabadi style.......but unfortunately it ONLY works in hyderabd!--remember that :D

Mumbaikars have their own unique problems. the city is too big and to get to any place u actually need to plan out ur journey. Hyd is comparatively small u can get anywhere u want .so cummute frm office to home is qutie less here this leave ample time for hyderabadis to njoy their life( in mumbai i spend 4 hours a day just commuting). I mean in mumbai there was so such thing as time for urself.every second counts in mumbai.

I m not justifying mumbai but being a mumbaikar i can atleast plead our case.....................

my transfer to hyd has been the most welcome change in life. I like the laid back attitude here. still work goes on.... :P

hey...no need to get defensive....i am aware of mumbai's problems ...some of my relatives stay there and i know how they lead their lives....feel sorry for em. whenever they visit here, they never fail to comment on how relaxed we are!

laidback

by akhilis2cool » Thu Apr 08, 2004 6:36 pm

Here is a poem that all hyderabadis like.

"LEISURE"

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

By Wm. Henry Davies.

The term Late Latif also originated in hyderabad.

He is type of person who is always in his own, taking his time to do things his way.

Always gets scolded for being laidback but enjoys his life more than any one else. He is the one who has time to wait and smell the roses.

He is always happy `coz he knows life is to be enjoyed, no matter what others say.
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

I still remember our english teacher Rev. Bro..... (forgot name, just 75 yrs young when I was in college, hope he is still going strong) teaching this poem and I wondered if it had any relevance to a hyderabadi like me. I always had time to stare at cows (and girls ) and sheep and the flowing river (musi! yes it flows near our college) and was never in a hurry.

u r a true hyderabadi. :)

US mein kya kar rahe ho? :?:

I actually thought u might be staying some where near Sainikpuri....looking at ur avatar :)

Coming back o the topic.

When visitors from mumbai (or any other metro) are abt to go back, believe it or not they prefer to go to the station an hr befor the train departs.

Reason? : what if it leaves early

imagine a train leaving b`fore time in India

Well mine is a completely different case here... Being born and bought up in Hyderabad, i am a true hyderabadi in all respects. A true Nawab. My atitude's caricature would be best described by GARFIELD :D...

And four years ago i had to move to mumbai for the sake of my studies. Just imagine what kind of attitude shock i had got :o Well i was sorta feeling so tensed up and everything seemed to be going so fast... but then i decided to take the positive aspect of it, learned not to waste time and learned to enjoy being busy and what not....

but wat can i say mates, Once a HYDERABADI always a HYDERABADI. :)
