Ponder Over This...

by Five7Jaan » Tue Mar 30, 2004 9:00 am

Hey,

I am just tired of the gender issues on the board [they are getting redundant!], thought this might help. Also, post your quirky puzzles etc.

Question:

Jane never lies on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Jean always tells the truth on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On the rest of the days, they may tell the truth, or they may lie. Both say they lied yesterday. What day is today?

If you have done this before, please do not spoil it for everyone. Others, the answer must include an explanation.

since all days are taken, both cannot lie on the same day

so, the statement that both lied yesterday is actually...................

..............one of them is saying the truth and the other said a lie..........

in other words, both are not saying the truth.......

now, if u logically deduct the days.....its Friday.

Assume, Jane lied today, that means she said truth yesterday..........

................means today is Fri, Sat or Sun

then Jean said truth today, means, Yesterday is Tue, Wed, THu....

.....or Today is Wed, THu or Fri.......

Friday fits !! anyother answers possible?! no time to check that.................coz me busy doing nothing

it cannot be the other way..........

Assume Jane said truth today.....

.....then today is Sat, Sun or MOn.

then Jean lied today means.....

Today is.........Tue, Wed, THu.........

doesnt fit.

so, its only Friday................me not bad, i am giving myself a pat on the back

from one of those emails:

Hello all,

Well Are u male or a female? This is called the quick eye, quick eye

exam............................. ...........................

This will blow your mind...! Just do it - don't cheat plz!!!!!!!!!!!! Try this its actually quite good. But don't cheat!

Count the number of F's in the following text in 10
seconds:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE

RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC

STUDY COMBINED WITH THE

EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

Managed it?

Scroll down only after you have counted them!

OK?

How many?

Three? (You r definitely male!!!)

Wrong, there are six - no joke!

Read again!

FINISHED FILES ARE THE

RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC

STUDY COMBINED WITH THE

EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

The reasoning is further down...

The MALE brain cannot process the word "OF".

Incredible or what? Anyone who counts all six F's on the first go has a

brain of a Female . You can test this by asking a Guy/Girl near you to

work it out.

It really works.

This one was asked in the Civil Services Exam:-

Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan ke baap ka kya hai?

It took me close to 45 minutes to answer this one. One of the simplest and one of the best ones that I've heard.

ZC bhai! Golly! What's with all those posts one after another? Seriously, you need to stop eating sugar/candy! Hehe, I appreciate it though. Yes, the answer is Friday and thank you for the numerous ways of the explanation.

Gormless Gus, what is the answer? I want to say beta but I sound ridiculous to myself!

Crtl, par kya kare? I was dangerously getting bored of that issue.

by asli_badmash » Wed Mar 31, 2004 12:49 am

I guess the answer has been given...

But here is my two bit.

------Mon-Tue-Wed-Thus-Fri-Sat-Sun

Jane-T----T----T-----T-----------------

Jean-T----------------------T----T---T

That makes friday as the day. Jane could be lieing about the lieing yesterday and Jean is telling the turth about lieing yesterday.

Sorry 57J for dragging more gender kinda stuff but this is a poser i really wanted to know the answer to. Someone asked me and left before i could get the answer out... anyways is there one ?

Hypothetical situation. Assume 4 ppl in a room and no external influences etc. 3 men and a lady. Each man has a disability , one blind, one deaf and one dumb. The lady in the room is the blind man's wife. The deaf guy kisses her and assuming she and he wont open their month on the matter, how does the dumb guy tell the blind fella whatever happened ?

why does the dumb guy tell the blind fella whatever happened? seeing the blind guy happy in his own world, and that the lady doesn't mind the extra attention, he too will have go with her, after the deaf guy finishes kissing her!

Well done, asli, good job!

Here's one more from the long list of life's miserable mysteries:

3 friends buy a gift for a 4th. The gift costs Rs. 30. So each one contributes Rs. 10. But the shopkeeper says that he'll give them a discount of Rs. 5, if they donate Rs. 2 to the oldage home, out of those 5 rupees. They do. They get back Rs. 3, each one taking Rs. 1.

So now, each has spent Rs. 9. Together: 9 x 3 = Rs. 27

Money with the oldage home = Rs . 2

But, 27 + 2 = 29.

Where did that 1 rupee go?

And ZC (was it?), I did not take the civil services exam. This Amitabh-Abhishek puzzle is one of the cult puzzles that is used to test the out-of-the-box thiniking of a person.

I was tested, and after a torturous 40 minutes, I cordially took a hammer out-of-the-box, and very out-of-the-boxedly showed the guy who asked me this, how to beat a person's head to get his brains out-of-the-brainbox! :D

abbe oh....the 2 bucks to charity is a part of what they spent. ie the 9 rupees each spent. so 2gether they spent 27 only. (got back 3 bucks from 30)

why should this 29 shud be equal to that 30 :?:  its 27-2=25, they spent 25 on the gift and donated 2, the question is wrong............
