Class room experiences

by Mayavi Morpheus » Thu Mar 25, 2004 4:50 am

College days were the most memorable days of my life. Whenever I meet my classmates, I recollect those wonderfull moments, the jokes, teasing girls and all the fun we had. Share some of your experiences here.

Cross posting:

Not a goof up, but done purposefully:

One day I was in the control systems class and talkin with friends as usual and not paying attention to the lecture. The instructor, a female, was a "just graduate" (two years senior) so we didnt respect her much. She came to me, asked me to stand up and said "meerayithe baga chaduvukuntaru, anni telusu, vere vallani vinanivvara" and she made a sad face as if begging me to listen to her lecture.

My friend felt pity and said "arey, madam feel ayyindi ra" and I was thinking how to translate tht sentence to english - word to word - and laughed at that thought. Mean time the instructor came to us again and asked why we were laughing and I said "madam, we felt that u feelded very well!"

This happened to me in the last academic year :

There was this spaceflight mechanics class. This prof. used to take an extra hour and extend it to a 2hr lecture. I used to hate this. Once i felt so lazy that i decided to ditch the first hour and drop in during the 2nd hr of the lecture. He used to give some 5 min break in between. So I enter the classroom trying not to be spotted, and voila he spots me. Here sthe conversation between us :

PROF : Why didnt u attend the first hour?

ME :Sir, i was sleeping cudnt wake up.( dat excuse works in our college for the morning *;30 lectures..:D )

PROF : Why are u attending the 2nd hour then?

ME : Sir i dont wanna lose on myattendance. ( we have this 80% attendance rule)

PROF : So, you are not interested in the course, you are just coming for attendance?

ME : Yes sir, cuz my attendance is low...

PROF : R u sure?

ME : Yes sir.. Err.... Well i mean... (i went blank.. whole of my class was laughing... even i was laughin lol )

PROF : I shall remember that when i grade you mister :D

This happened in my intermediate.... man those days were awesome..

In our english class, our lecturer was teaching us some non-detailed story. Me and my group of friends were least interested in that. We were bakwaaasing about something non-stop. She spotted us and ignored for sometime but then she couldnt control, and she said stop talking otherwise i will go out of the class. And i instinctively said "Oh thank you maam, please go out." LOL

She went crazy then came to me and practically almost tried to pull me out of the class and took me to the principal. Now our principal was one short old guy. He already had grudge against me, He took this as an oppurtuniy and shouted at me for like 10 minutes and then took his cane and tried to hit me by catching my ear, and pulling my head down. I was too tall for him, so he was almost jumping up and down trying to get hold of my ear, and i was standing tall more and more..LOL it was so hilarious.

And then he setled for my hand and when he hit the first shot the cane broke Kerrrrrrrrrr.. :)) lol He was like " NAAA KARMHAA BAAABU, VELLU INKA CLASS KI"

sadly, nothing funny or exciting hapned to me in school. wud u believe it - i was a studious, shy, reserved and silent kid...and even got appreciated for not speaking in class! :D

My Inter-course  (heeeheeeheee) slowly changed me: i was no longer studious, shy, reserved or silent...and found my first girl friend!

a funny memory - to impress girls, i used to stand behind a bald lecturer, peer down his shiny head and pretend to comb my hair...he caught me once when someone giggled loudly...after screaming at me about "this generation...", he dragged me to the princi's office. unfortunately for him, even the princi burst out laffing when he heard the lecturer's account, then restrained himself in a flash n admonished me half heartedly!

In my grad course, found another girl friend and had a ball (no pun intended)!!! but sadly those 3 years - no funny incidents in class - since i was hardly in class!

after grad, at NIIT, it was a 4 year picnic for me - fun, girls, more girls, dates...even the faculty who taught me were all young and funny, so none of my antics made any difference!

This is one of the most funny incident i can remeber from my school life. Actually junior college. Was in a CBSE school and there was the 10+2 system. And for the XIth and XII class we had the option of choosing Biology, Engg Drawing or Comp Science. I chose Engg Drawing stream. We were two sections so during this special class two sections would merge and go to three separate classes. So once when we returned the Biology was going into overtime ...We gathered the lecturer was discussing the nutrional aspect of milk from various species. And suddenly he says " the milk of man ...." There was an uproar that lasted at least 10 min.

Isnt it funny, when we are young, the mention of anything sexual or taboo used to crack us up. The words like Penis, vagina, semen would shock the girls and instantly they would start gigling and it make the guys smile. So at school... whenever I was first into the class in high school, I would make woman figures on the board and write all weird stuff and as students came in later; I would watch what they did. The girls when they read it would rush to the class teacher to complain. :x I was caught once and my dad was called. Later that day my dad(military man) beat the crap out of me. I dont think I tried anything funny after that at school. :)

Hey BTW, I went to a CBSE school too.

This happened in our Engg. college. One of my class mates (another badmash like me) brought a condom to school one day. We belw it up and were playing with it in the main hall. Obviously, the college H.O.D was horrified when he saw this, but said nothing. Funny thing happened, while playing with the blown up condom, it burst and the HOD came out to the loud bang. We ran into out classes. Later... nobody picked up the condom till the evening, everybody walked around it, but nobody would even kick it into the corner. It was funny.... The girls wouldnt even look at it. We just stood in the corner and laughed at everyone who passed by.

My life till Intermediate was boring. No fun in class, me and my gang were all studious students and very 'innocent' guys. As my friend used to put it "Bay ante benchlo kurcho nivvaru" type of guys.

Everything changed in engineering, our class had the reputation of being the college bullies. Even the principle was afraid to mess with us. That was a royal life. Funny thing is that we never did anything to earn such a reputation, its just that we all gelled togather well as a group.

One day in my third year engineering I was talking to my friend in class as usual (we always attended the classes till third year, it was more fun inside the class than outside) the instructor was again the same 'control systems' female, forgot her name. She was the new instructor, just did her BE and her class mate during her engg. was also teaching us another subject (power systems). We just returned from a industrial tour where the guide was the power systems 'sir'.

So this female came to us and see's us talking and said

"I know you guys are not listening to the lecture, atleast pretend that u are taking notes you dont even have a pen in ur hand and book in front, show some respect to me"

My friend immediately said, "madam, we just returned from the tour and power systems sir had told us everything about you and what you did during ur college days (apparently this female had a love affair which her friend spilled after a peg of whisky during tour)"

and we burst out in laughter.....

The instructor was shocked and repeatedly asked what the other lecturer told us abt her, but we kept laughing and didnt tell anything.

She was scared and said "pleasse dont scare me and keep it to yourself, I dont mind even if you dont take notes!" and she left. LOL.

Maybe this wasn't, strictly speaking, a classroom experience, but it did happen when I was in college:

A whole bunch of us was sitting on a railing next to the basketball court in our hostel campus, when the head of our institute paraded in. Now, the both of us didn't see eye to eye, so I used to take childish pleasure in making his life difficult in little ways. Therefore, when he walked up to our group, I was the only one who didn't get off the railing and wish him good evening. He came up to me and, after looking at me for a while, said, "Is it wrong to get up and wish?". I said, "No, sir, it's not", and kept on sitting.

I thought that was pretty funny, at the time :)

Yes ~badmash~ what seemed hilarious as a kid/pre teen does tend to appear gross now. All that physical humour and stuff.

Some lecturers try to be very proper which turns out to be very funny. I was always in a co-ed school but for 2 yrs I was in all-girls class. Our Math lecturer was so handsome and was fav of all female students as well as lady teachers alike. He would charm his way through all these classes but try to be very proper. May be that added to his charm.

He taught us trigonometry and everytime sec c was encountered there would be a deliberate pause between "sec and c". Of course we observed that and the first time we noticed it, we giggled. Continued for a while. Dunno what happened later, he changed it to secant c.

I heard this from a friend of mine who had gone to give some competitive exam. Now there were Telugu Medium and English Medium in the class. After the exam, some guy came back into the class and started looking around for sumthin. the prof asked him what was wrong. Now the poor guy barely knew any english so he said, "Sir, my book escaped."

Wow! So many incidents!

Our Accounts teacher in Class 12 was a Bengali. She would dictate problems before the start of every class and would sometimes check our note books. One day, during the routine dictation she went,

"A bought goods from B for Rs 500. B sold the above goods on credit for Rs 600 to X. X bought goods from Dabloo for Rs 800"

Thats precisely how I wrote it, "Dabloo". When I went to get the problem corrected, the lady stared at the page for sometime and asked me what I had written. I repeated the word and I swear I didn't think anything was amiss. Another Bong girl behind me said that it should have been "W" and burst out laughing!

I still smile when I think of the incident!

I have a bunch of pals from HPS. Apparently stuff like this has happened there,

Teacher(not very comfy in English) to class "Students, open the window and let the air-force come in"..............!!!

Teacher of the same ilk "If u don't stop talking, I'll go out and kneel"....!!!

More, After the principal walked past the classroom, "Students the principal has just passed away"..... :-)

School, college..........kahan gaye woh din??.......

That reminds me of my english teacher in 9 th class (Ours was a boys-only class, co-ed but girls have seperate sections  ) She used to dictate questions and answers after every lesson. So one day she was dictating the Q & A and we were all seriously jotting it down with heads bent, she sat in the last bench and was yelling the answer and after sometime she moved towards board and suddenly stopped. All the guys looked up at the same moment and saw that the teachers saree was slipping (kongu) and she was trying to adjust it but couldnt. We were all staring at her......she turned towards wall and said "My kongu is jaaring, what are you looking?"

Those who can, do. Others, teach!

That was the anthem in the days when we were canned and manhandled for reasons beyond comperehension. But now things are different. I understand why i'm being canned and manhandled!

In my junior year of highschool (attempt at trying to sound cool when all i meant to say was yintermediattu firust yeeaar) we had a chemistry lecturer whose immortal timely phrases in english are world popular in our school.

Every morning, we had an assembly that would generally constitute of boys giggling uncontrollably at each other, and getting a kick out of trying to fathom what the prayer actually meant. All this was till the person at the mike would announce, "Close your eyes, bow down your heads and let us pray. Our father..." Then, we'd race as to who would finish the prayer the quickest.

One fine day, it so happened that our chemistry professor (another attempt at trying to sound cool when all i wanted to say was chemistry saaar gaadu) was given the job of conducting the prayer. As we were figiting in our lines, he announced, "Cummon, aal of you. Close your eyes and fall down your heads..."

We did fall down, alright!

It's amazing how these little things could crack you up. I noticed that quite a few incidents here, perhaps, did not come out as being ultra dopey. But i bet the person who posted them still chuckles to himself whenever he thinks about it. Same with me, too.

As the song goes, join me, "Those were the best days of my life!"
