how come u didnt ask Rediff to provide links to sources, before agreeing with them?

till anything is proven, they all seems to be conspiracy theories floated by people who lost money on betting! anyway, not many people come to see test matches these days, unless the home team seems to be on the verge of winning.

ZC wrote:do u think declaring when Sachin was close to 200 was good? i think the Boka aka Sourav ganguly is behind

ok...sachin cud've reached 200, but he himself admitted that the team decided to declare in time to let pakis bat in the last 1 hour. he shud've played faster to reach 200 instead of plodding along slowly.

Ganguly asked Dravid to declare the innings since the deadlines set by the team had expired. sachin was hurt since he assumed that he'll be informed before the actual declaration. whats the guarantee that sachin wud've scored the 6 runs in the next 1 over?

ganguly acted like a decisive, business-like leader. good leaders need to take hard decisions regarding what they think as best for their team. he is gutsy enuf to face the flak and any temper tantrums from sachin

with all respect to him, i think sachin was childish in running to the media with his complaint. even if the complaint was valid from sachin's poit of view, it shud've been settled in the dressing room, within the team.

ZC wrote:everyone knows that (Sourav is jealous of Sachin)

thats a silly comment. why shud sourav be jealous of sachin? sourav by himself commands respect as one of the best captains India has ever had. Jealousy comes out of insecurity. Sourav has no reason to be insecure abt Sachin, since its proven that Sachin is a lousy captain and has no chance of replacing Sourav.

did u ever see Sachin complaining on teh media abt anyone............?? when Sourav is not playing, y did he tell Dravid to declare? did u see Dravid when he declared, wasnt he uncomfortable? his face looked, u ******* plz allow me to do my job............and abt jealousy dude, HYD is the place, did u watch the match in HYD where Sachin and Dravid have broken the record or Sourav and Dravid(highest partnership), Sourav was literally crying man..........thats a direct example that unhappiness/records etc etc matter to everyone no matter what position they are in and that forms the reason for jealousy. and for ur question whether he could have scored 6 runs in an over, i ask, how does it matter if ur bowling 16 overs or 10 overs ?? in a team game, its both the team and the individual player who matter, if u say that individuals shuldnt think abt themselves then man-of-the-match shud be scrapped.........what do u say? r we on the lst day or something, that u have to declare at that point, plz answer the above question ? 10 overs or 16 overs, does it really matter ? but Sourav definitely new that Sachin would be upset becoz of the declaration.....Boka ......uski........u know what..............neednt say.........good leaders man, when they are not in the party, dont compel the acting rulers to take decisions, thats exactly what Sourav did by forcing Dravid to declare...........it seems so to me.

did u see his press conf.? what else was he doing? maybe he didnt say so in words, but his body language n expressions say a lot and all of this was noted by the media.

ZC wrote:when Sourav is not playing, y did he tell Dravid to declare?

coz he was being consulted. else dravid wud've told him to FO...this happens in every team. if captain is not playing temporarily for some reason, still the acting captain consults him for all important decisions, unless of corz they were on the field.

ZC wrote:did u watch the match in HYD where Sachin and Dravid have broken the record or Sourav and Dravid(highest partnership), Sourav was literally crying man....

 cummon...thats crazy...i dont remember seeing him cry for such thing. even if the grudge was there, it wud never be in full public display

ZC wrote:in a team game, its both the team and the individual player who matter, if u say that individuals shuldnt think abt themselves then man-of-the-match shud be scrapped...

what does that have to do here? Man of the Match is a way of acknowledging a particularly good performance in the match. but how a team plans it game shud NEVER revolve around a single individual. its same as managing a project team in the corporate arena

ZC wrote:......what do u say? r we on the lst day or something, that u have to declare at that point, plz answer the above question ? 10 overs or 16 overs, does it really matter ?

the entire team had agreed that they wud declare 1 hour before close of play and sachin was party to it. sourav just stuck to the deadline. thats life. sachin shud've accelerated his scoring rate. he just assumed that all wud wait for him till he is ready to get back.
the team must've analysed everything and figured on taking a couple of quick wickets before stumps.

ZC wrote:but Sourav definitely new that Sachin would be upset becoz of the declaration.....Boka ......uski........

do u really think Sourav wud do something so childish and lose respect of the entire team? do u think the rest of the team wud not be aware of whats on his mind? which player, esp a new-comer wud respect such a captain?
such fights and ego-clashes have spelt the downfall of all teams (look at pakistan). does the indian teams cohesive performance show any indications of such a rift? if this is indeed a grudge match, it wud've been felt long ago and wud have affected the team's performance.

ZC wrote:good leaders man, when they are not in the party, dont compel the acting rulers to take decisions, thats exactly what Sourav did by forcing Dravid to declare...........

but they do act if the acting ruler appears indecisive or over-awed by somebody. this also shows the respect in which ganguly is held by dravid and the team...hardly seen for a petty minded person

some more info:

http://in.rediff.com/cricket/2004/mar/31stats.htm

we can see that Dravid was not the first captain to ruthlessly declare an innings when a team member was on verge of some personal achievment.

we also have to remember that in the recent Aussie tour, Ganguly once declared when Dravid was on 91. no one raised a stink then! was he jealous of Dravid too ???

all r screaming now just coz the other guy involved is Sachin.

all india might worship Sachin, but at the end of the day, he's just another team member.

exactly, bhanje..

it was just a matter of tactics, in the best interest of the team..

didnt work in this case as the Pak openers batted to the end of the day..

but Dravid took the chance n it was more or less worth it..

btw, to someone with the highly envious record that Sachin has, would he really care abt missing a 200?? esp. now that the team is on the verge of creating history n kickin pak arse with a most probable innings thrashing..

besides, the match will n should be remembered for the awesome knock by Sehwag! IMHO, the team is better off without Ganguly now.. shrewd captain..sure.. wht abt the batsman half?

before this particular event i meant....

 cummon...thats crazy...i dont remember seeing him cry for such thing. even if the grudge was there, it wud never be in full public display
i was a fan of Ganguly, but then coz he was almost crying, u could see it on his face and always the camera was focusing on him, everyone knew he was upset, it was so damn clear on the TV man .....that made me think again abt his sportmanship......did ganguly think, by bowling 13 or 10 overs instead of 16 he could take more wickets, the number of wickets he could expect whether 13 or 10 overs or the 16 as bowled is 0.5 probability, and the probability that a star could get upset is 1, even a kid can tell that........u wouls say, 200 ..its okay its some other time....i would say what Ganguly has done was KLPD........

what does that have to do here? Man of the Match is a way of acknowledging a particularly good performance in the match. but how a team plans it game shud NEVER revolve around a single individual. its same as managing a project team in the corporate arena
that measn, individual moral etc is also imp along with the team future.....

the entire team had agreed that they wud declare 1 hour before close of play and sachin was party to it. sourav just stuck to the deadline. thats life. sachin shud've accelerated his scoring rate. he just assumed that all wud wait for him till he is ready to get back.
the team must've analysed everything and figured on taking a couple of quick wickets before stumps.
sourav wasnt the first one to call of the game at the point, even a murderer can say, i am not the first one to do it, let me go.........and then is it that necessasry that they stick to the time, 1 hour......do managers do everything by the plan, as time goes u have to think, u dont write down points before u start and no matter what u try to stick to it, then even i can becoem a leader.....no need for Sourav...a good leader is the one who acts as time passes.......

such fights and ego-clashes have spelt the downfall of all teams (look at pakistan). does the indian teams cohesive performance show any indications of such a rift? if this is indeed a grudge match, it wud've been felt long ago and wud have affected the team's performance.
if ur saying that everyone in Indian team are saints, they dont have misunderstandings.........its not possible...

but they do act if the acting ruler appears indecisive or over-awed by somebody. this also shows the respect in which ganguly is held by dravid and the team...hardly seen for a petty minded person
good leaders as i said, dont follow the text book, they make rules with time.........
