Collge Raggin': What was your worst exp.?

by Five7Jaan » Fri Feb 20, 2004 2:37 am

I never had the opportunity to enjoy one of the Indian academic standards in college: the bullying for incoming freshmen/juniors.

All the horror I have seen is in the movies, are they really like that?

And, did anyone participate in it?

I can decsribe it in few words....

What would you do If you were GOD for few months and you had all these sheep(juniors) to slaughter. I mean literally you were GOD. No rules and you had all the freedom.

Some people misuse it.

Personally me... I let them go. And I saved as many as possible. People who have issues with their personality tend to overdo ragging. They need to feel supirior in some way. Its stupid... I didnt understand it then and I dont understand it now.

I wasnt ever ragged. I would just say.. "I wont do it". I was beaten up for that, but I gave as good as I got.

Zorro... The nice guy, I see it now; We need people like you. Rock on.

About Sexuality and Gandhi.... What is wrong in mentioning both in the same sentence. He was flesh and blood, a man. He had a wife and possibly girlfriends. You know everybody who is flesh and blood has to deal with emotions and bodily functions, putting it very mildly. We dont know much about his personal life. Before we bestow upon him the mantle of GOD, be aware that he was a man.

And Firstly talking about sex does not automatically make me horny. Secondly, I wasnt even talking about sex. I was just talking about Gandhi and his get-up. I wasnt trying to portray him a base manner. I just meant to be lighten up the discussion.

I respect Gandhi a lot and try to follow most of his ideals. I am nowhere close to where he would be proud of me, but I try.

by Five7Jaan » Wed Feb 25, 2004 8:18 pm

The author is an authoress who had a busy week and weekend and this week too...oh, its a vivicous cycle for moi this February...

Furthermore, how come the conversation dwindled to sexuality? Oh, whatever.

I wanted to know what the worst [I'll quote the Moderators here] "torture" you had? Because I have heard of say for example:

You are supposed to profess your love to the opposite sex in front of everyone, there are parties you sponsor for the seniors etc. They don't sound too bad [if you'll excuse the psychology of it]

But, beaten up Asli? Ouch...

You know, it sort of reminds me of the movie Shiva [well, the early scenes anyways]. :)

Dwindled? I would rather say elevated...

It turned to sexuality, when zorro thought I was horny when I mentioned Gandhi, Women and his loin cloth in the same breath. How did gandhi come into picture? Trudge throught the threads and you will get it.

Profess love for opposite SEX.. huh.. I was asked to profess my love for a GUY. I was asked to define his parts in a way I would define a desirable “apsara”! ( I thought… toc toc “These seniors are crazy” an Obelix… Oblelix what??? Asterix and Obelix. Got it.. Good!)

You ask why? I will leave it to your imagination. May be they were planning to walk out of the closet en-masse. The other guy they picked was kinds fruity though! He wore a green shirt and Cream colored pant. His voice hadn’t cracked and he swayed his hips when he walked… He had it coming! Maybe his mommy wanted a girl and he was born? Whatever!

I refused to play ball and the closet freaks jumped on me. They figured they could molest, pillage and plunder the APSARA(Green shirt guy) anytime, so they wanted a piece of me! It was a big freaking incident and I was labled “The guy who said NO”.

I was never a victim of ragging, still I had to stand in the for 1.30 hr almost everyday. Sometimes we had to give the bus 'dhakka' when it stops and the kind bus driver never bothered to stop the bus for us to get in after dhakka

Kaha-suna ragging incidents: A guy in our college was asked by seniors (chokri log) to let his shirt hang out of zipper and act like mastubrating!

Ragging is fun as long as its in limits.

Not all Bad

by Ragging_Rocks!!! » Tue Mar 09, 2004 5:35 am

Okay people... Ragging is not a bad thing. What we hear about in the papers is unfortunate but I do not term it ragging. It is sadism. I had a ball during my fresher's period. Some of the experiences were hillarous, some were humiliating, but they all taught me one thing - I aint the only stud on campus. Three thousand other people are as good as me. And, that is the prime objective of ragging. It helps you make friends for life and it teaches you that no work is too small - it is called dignity of labour. Alas, many places have not understood the essence of ragging and it is indeed a sorry state of affairs that we have had to have a bill that bans it.

nostalgic... thats what happens to me if you ask me about ragging. I know it is a time when we go thru hell.. but then there are many people who think they had fun.. atleast i did. Being ragged is fun, but then the seniors should be sensible.

As someone else put it, if it is not in limits then it is not ragging. it is sadism.

My experiences.. they asked me what I was gonna do for my first night with my wife. That was the first question I was asked by my seniors. Then there is the common stuff- like masturbating with the shirt ends, selling red jasmines (the problem was that the gals were eager to buy them) had to play football with a cricket bat, I was a witness to the titanic kiss by two guys (they were standing on a bench and actually kissed) had to dance even though I was the worst dancer in the world.

Yeah I did say 'I love you' to a lotta girls. My seniors told me, " We are giving you an opportinity to profess love to a girl. If she gets mad, you can say we asked you to do it. but then, who knows, she may accept"

And I did feed my seniors (At the end of the year, didnt they treat us in a big 5star hotel? ) But, cigarettes..No. I just refused. I told them I'd rather buy them food. Many people found that to be okay.. some got mad at me.

There are many other things that they made me do. At that time, I was cursing them. But now, when i think of those things.. whenever we friends get together and discuss about what those 'bastards' made us to do.. we all have a good laugh. No more hard feelings because we become the best of buddies with all those people who ragged us the most.

people say that seniors have fun at the cost of juniors. actually, it is the other way round. no one remembers how they ragged others. but we sure remember how we got ragged, for the rest of our lives. and for many, it is fun. (I really pity those people who had nighmarish experience with their seniors- they did have bad luck)

Ragging? Weird as it may sound that was something I've just heard. Too bad (?) I haven't experienced it. If its clean healthy fun, I guess its ok. Coming to think of it, did it happen in my college? (Umm......Jogs her memory.......) It probably was a clandestine thing.
