I like the fact that, suddenly, we Indians living in India have become 'you people' and you and your Yankee friends have become 'we'. As I recall, you were professing your loyalty to Hyderabad and India some time ago. Make up your mind, Uncle.

BTW, just so that you know, your generalisations and allegories are completely invalid. Imagine having a helpline for Muslims in Hyderabad. I'm not sure who'd find it funnier, the Hindus or the Muslims!

Anyway, I admire the fact that you and yours give back to society. That's more than a lot of us do, I admit.

poverty bhai...

dont u think fidller is absolutely right? i dont know where u get ur idea of the situation in india...but i find it laughable.

about americans respecting muslims, well, your statement does not tally with what i have been told by many muslim friends who are working in america right now. one of them has even returned, disgusted by the turn of events.

even sikhs have been murdered coz they are "mistaken" for muslims.

u say in America "you people" do not practice racism openly...ie "you people" screw a mulim's happiness behind closed doors, hidden from view. sort of psychological torture...?

Yes, i addressed you'll "you people", i do not regret it ...i do not consider my self to be a part of the nation in which people do not live under human government. ( which i think is your moral esteem)....another reason i did it because i am really not a part of india anymore since i am a u.s. proud citizen...then u would ask why the hell am i concerned about Indian things then...why am i posting this suff up??....because i want india to be a nation of self respect again (like how it was before the british ever came to India and ruined us)....i want it to be a free nation....so i can call myself an Indian again...then i can say "Us" rather than u'll or ...whatever.....u get the point.

And what u said something about that holine .....i just gave that as an example dude---think outside the box....i do not like that either...i think it is bs...but the service American is willing to privide for its citizen is what i am trying to say...will india ever achieve it?? i think so....by eliminating our poverty....(it might sound absurd...believe be it will happen)

about you bro..CtraL.....

You do not agree with me?? i can believe that....as did a lot others said to me...(have u ever read AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE)? I think its a great novel....it fits in this situation perfectly...do read it if u have time..

One of them has returned?? i know probabaly 50 who have returned bcoz of rasial prejudice.....(but u know what....out of that 50 i know 45 came back . )

dude after u know what happpened that date....every one was frightened...thats why some went back...thinking this nation will turn into sometihing like "india"..(dont take it the bad way dude)...and some peole went back bcoz (i agree) racist.....

my friends mom.....was wearing a hijab....and they went to a ice cream shop--(and one blonde came and hugged her...saying how sorry she feels about them...being prejudice in news and media...(she even gave her card to contact her if some one bother them))

and another case--we were buying a car...dealing with the car dealer....nagociating about the price...i was talking to my sister in hindi...and that dealer got so mad...telling us to talk in english...and he said "what the hell r u donig...we are compromising over here...talk in engish....."...i said no ...i will talk to my sis how ever i wnat to..and we left and didn't buy the car...which we were really in need...since the other one broke down.. :( ....anyways

the point is...there are some bad people and a lot of good people...( u just have to deal with it...)...then u would say that is the same thing in India..some good people some bad people....(i agree in some situations and don't agree on other...)in the racism scale ..i do not....(plz understand)

again all comes back to poverty......i think it is a major issue guys....which is holding india backwards......there is no doubt u should agree on this...at least

about calling me uncle....lol....i think i am way younger than u

Fiddler-bhai,

Wise move :) Anyway, this topic has digressed a lot. If I remember right, it was about 'hay' n McDonalds (wondering what's the connection - maybe that both are junk - can't think of anything else).

I feel McDonald's coming to Hyd is a good thing. These phirangis, they feel at home when they see a McDonald's. Considering our stakes in exports, we need the phirangis to feel at home in Hyd, and so, the McDonald's are most welcome.

Read your posts and find for yourself how much of a contradicting statements you have made.

Maybe once you 'growup' you 'may' understand, though .. hopefully, for our sakes.

.and what's wrong in making pizza/burger Indianised, huh !!? If those of us who want to eat so?

whoa ! such a complex of being what you are !! that you cannot even stand somebody else rightfully being themselves too !!

Poverty, Man, are you in grt trouble with yourself or what !!

I felt like intervening cuz there may be some growing up kids who cud be taking what you said to be true and grow up similar :(

Awwww, poor baby's annoyed because the big, nasty Hyderabadis have taken away his lollipop... Poor thing! Bad Hyderabadis! BAD HYDERABADIS!

(Notice that I said 'Hyderabadis' and not 'Huderabadis')

Dude, I don't know how young you think you are, but your post has me convinced that you're really waaaaaay older that I am. You must be, what sixteen? Or maybe even (says in a breathless whisper) seventeen!? The sheer mind-boggling maturity of your post was what gave it away.

Yeah, I know, and I said so earlier too. It seems he missed that. What I've got problems with is the massive chip he has on his shoulder. Ah well... I suppose we're all not as mature as we'd like to think ;)

oh no...i've lost patience with this kiddo! this wud (hopefully) be my last post on his pet subject!

JustaLittleUnwell wrote:this topic has digressed a lot.....we need the phirangis to feel at home in Hyd, and so, the McDonald's are most welcome.

yes...this topic was suppossed to be about the BIG M in hydbad! abt phirangis feeling at home at a McDonalds, i somewhat disagree. McDonalds is losing patronage and image in the west. as i had mentioned in an earlier post, it is only recently that the chain is thinking of a "Healthy" menu....which i am sure wont be available in India.
its only in India and other developing countries, the people consider it a status symbol to be seen there.
mark my words, just like those at delhi, mcdonalds in hyderabad would be majorly filled with indians talking in fake phirangi accents, rather than the real "phirangis".

Poverty wrote:you'll put all kind of masalas in it and make it like a salan.........is tthis a pizza or a salan on a roti!

for a change i like to agree with this guy. the pizzas in the "punjabi" menu at pizza hut tasted like naans with all currys spread on top of it!

nothing wrong in experimenting, but IMHO for pizzas, the italian way is the best way...

btw i even hate the "stuffed crust" pizza where the crust is stuffed with cheese inside! when the cheese leaks/drips out of a broken crust...it reminds me of childrens' dripping nostrils!

sorry if i killed the apetite of anybody...but i cudn't resist this!

always an indian living in usa wrote:what's wrong in making pizza/burger Indianised, huh !!?

i agree with him too. we just cannot eat most of west's ultra bland food. i suffered enuf, so i know. the statement i made above abt "punjabi" pizzas is just my opinion on pizzas. I think Italian food is livelier and closer to Asian cuisine. man...we need some quality italian restaurant here in hydbad.
the so-called italian joint "Gallopping Gooseberries" have no pizzas, but serve, horror of horrors, BURGERS!

An Italian Restaurant without hand tossed, wood fired pizzas....hope no Italian visitor sees this!

Fiddler wrote:I've got problems with is the massive chip he has on his shoulder

chip? looks more like a boulder to me!

anyways, i hope the topic comes back to food n fast foods here!

Well, the widespread availability of western junk food, coke/pepsi, bars/pubs/discos, western toilet seats (yuck) all go to serve the purpose of 'internationalization' of Hyderabad. Lot of phirangis visit these days on business, and trying to find them a place to eat is becoming an issue. I'm sure they wudn't appreciate going to a 'multi-cuisine' restaurant and having a panner butter masala which tastes like avakaya pachchdi coz even I find that unpalatable. I'm sure a westerner would find McDonald's a safer option than the above mentioned 'multi-cuisine' experience.

God save these souls, really :)

well, personally in this matter i find the western way comfortable. but wait...his topic is about food...eating food that is. lets start a seperate thread on pros and cons of western and indian "styles" (!) ......

The sight of a Big M wud surely make em feel at home, but in my experience, I have seen most of my phirangi colleagues binge crazily on Indian food, thru out their stay here! I have even taken a couple of them to Seventh Heaven where they gorged on rice with "Nellore Chapa Pulusu" n "Gongura Prawns" n "Gutti Vankaya" n "Ulava Charu" etc...that too in Andhra style- wih their hands...with sweat pouring down their foreheads! i have even got some phirangis addicted to the taste of irani chai, chotta samosa n biryani!

and not one of them had to move his desk closer to the office toilet for the rest of their stay!

one of them even "discovered" how white wines go well with Indian food!

Of corz I have also seen the "delicate" visitors from abroad, but to my surprise most of them were Indians who were citizens of those countries! they were the most fussy about water, spicy food and eating out! well, they can have all the McBurgers they want!

these wud be available long with the existing punjabi pizzas i had already mentioned before.

gotta eat these new subversive pizzas before giving my opinion on them!
