Our CM is conducting live programmes in D.D,Teja,Vissa,siti,maatv.

The above activities has been started by our present CM itself. Is he correct in conducting the live programmes like:

Dial-ur-cm (D.D)

Dial-ur-party president (Teja)

Progress report of the State (DD,Teja,Maatv, siti, vissatv.

Sajeeva, nice topic.

I happened to watch with interest one of these programmes where all the district collectors' offices were on video conference with the CM and his office. The idea is really good in the sense the public, the tax-paying citizens of the state, get to know how their government is functioning. It brings with it a whole lot of things like accountability of public servants, efficiency in their operations / decision making etc.

But what I was not impressed with is the way the proceedings were carried out. The CM was at the centrestage of everything and there was absolutely no scope for discussions / exchange of opinions. The CM was like a headmaster cross-questioning his nervous pupils (the collectors / subordinates etc.). Obviously this one person can't be an expert on everything, and the others who are (hopefully), should raise and be heard. Otherwise, what we would have is an autocratic form of rule where the whole government would dance to the whims of this one person who may or may not know what's best for the state and its citizens. The question to ask is not just "are we doing things right?" but also, "are we doing the right things?". In the present form of government that exists in AP, unfortunately, the second question doesnt seem to get asked.
