by Johnny » Tue Oct 28, 2003 1:53 am

hey guys/gals... what do u think is missing in hyderabad? why do u think even though hyd being such a lovely city.. it still misses the NIGHT LIFE... to take it on par with cities like banglore and mumbai..( i frankly think only these two r comparable with hyd ;) ), though i think hyd is the best among the said three... this board is started to express wat my friends here in bombay feel...

yes i think night life has to be improved in hyderabad !!..
to do that ..our sreets must be safer and telugu parents need to give more freedom to their daughters, or the girls should become rebels like guys and come out anyway...

whats good about the night out in the club...where there are no girls on the dance floor ?? :-)

yea i agree there are still some traditinal values in our society.. but i think we arent even given an oppurtunity to have a proper night life... everything closes by almost 11 pm.. the other day when i was in hyderabad... i went to this pub bottles and chimneys...it was closed by the time i reached (11:15 pm, )... so wheres the night life??.. dont u think governament shud also relax rules of timings on good hangout places atleast... good values doesnt mean we cant haev fun?? we can still have fun keeping our ethics intact :) what do u all say?..(depends on ur priority list though ;) )

Johny,,

You must be a stag, alone with no sisters, i guess,, imagine if your sister is going for Dj and coming home early in the morning...will you appreciate.. if yes then you are right .. hyderabad needs a good night life... if your answer is no, you would not appreciate your sister going for DJ,, then we are Hyderabadis( indians) we have our tradition and culture which the Westeners are trying to adopt and follow.. but we are sliding down to the worst culture and ethics.. my friend... its not good enjoy but there is a limit... guys have and certainly there are lots of limits a gal has got no one can deny that.....that is why its still raining and we are getting food..

true neeraja..i agree traditions must be followed ...
but are u saying girls in hyderabad have absolutely no interest in going out for a dance and enjoy !!!

the thing is, following the tradition\'s must come from with in..they shouldnt be forced on to you, like many indian parents do....

so whats the difference between us and taleban...dont get me wrong i am not directly comparing us with them, i know our issue is not that big of a deal compared to them...
i am just comparing the concept of forcing people to follow traditions..

peace out !

yo neeraja... u completely got me wrong... i am not saying that girls shud come out and party till late in the night... ofcourse we have our traditions and i am proud of them too..but my point being why shud the government force people to follow the baseless rules.. dont u think in cities like mumbai and delhi girls are cultured.. they r well cultured and well behaved and in their limits too.. girls or even boys for that matter who r spoilt will be spoilt wherever they are.. tradition and values comes from within... they cant be forced upon someone.. and about me being a stag u r completely wrong.. i didnt say enjoy at the cost of losing ur values.... people can still have fun with their ethics in place.. and believe me its lot more fun.. and one shudnt miss out on goodthings in life..:) Picture this a busybussiness man or a software professional who works way too hard all the day and wfter his work he needs some relaxaion but by the time he finished work all the places go dead on the city roads.. how would he fell and why wud he like that city anymore...( assuming he isnt from hyd originally) and how can Hyderabad become a cosmo and develop into the future hub of INDIA.... dont u think something is still missing which i keeping away us from being THE city of INDIA..:) i love hyderabad the way it is.. but i dont mind some good positive changes for the benefit of future generations :)

yaa johny, I do agree, S/w guys, slog the whole day and need to relax,, fine let them do,, why not?? but there need to be a limit , like the timing etc... we are not that so called developed like NYC for having a free casual life,, what ever there is a difference between a bread and a Bun, though the basic ingdreint is the same.... so there has to be a difference for the better, which I am sure as an Indian you would appreciate.... In a nut shell. it would be ideal to see gals and guys dancing till late in the night and going home at late hours... no parent or brother would like there wards coming in at late hours..and if you are looking for that type of relaxation.,, then India in not the place for you .. DUD!!!!

yo neeraja.. finally got ur response... well ur argument seems too good to be true.. then it probably is ;) well i agree with ur point of view keeping the social taboo associated with late nights in mind..:) but then i love my india.. even more hyderabad.( m in mumbai right now though.:P ) and most importanatly its people.. so i wouldnt ever compromise on their feelings.. but i sincerely feel there shud be atleast some kind of acceptable limit for time rather than the early 11 pm make it 1 pm types atleast 12:30 yaar.. thats fair enough m not asking for much.... and i guess its possible

HYDERABAD ---> is it happening?

by JustaLittleUnwell » Wed Oct 29, 2003 8:01 pm

I guess Hyd needs to have more night life and more options for spending a quality time in the evening. The restaurants and pubs get so crowded because there is nothing else to do in the city. I dont think night life means just dancing in the discos with girls (which is, btw, not a very gloomy proposition). We need to have a vibrant culture scene (the art/sculpture exhibitions, theatre, classical music & dance recitals, rock concerts, literary / film festivals etc.).

Also, this closing down of everything at 11.00pm is bizzarre. If you are slightly engrossed at work, or at home watching TV with interest, you could end up missing dinner.

I dunno if i\'m qualified to live in this \'traditional\' India because of my above expectations, but they seem quite innocent to me.

HYDERABAD ---> is it happening?

by ex-hydi2 » Sun Nov 02, 2003 7:48 pm

Having lived in Hyd and outside for considerable time...maybe it\'s the gray hairs talking:)...but, I am not sure keeping the bars open late night is any better/safer. There\'s lots of other way to have fun...what wrong with just hanging out in parks/malls/bowling alleys/going to movies? Alcohol need not be presents! 11:00pm should be plenty time to wrap up! Also, the city is more then software engineers..and those engineers need to work on their time management if they have to work ALL day and late into night. Sure, there are times you have to...but everyday?

ex-hydi, jus like you dye your grey hair, maybe you need to change your opinion on this one too :)

I agree that Hyderabad is not just software engineers, and even they need to manage their time and so on. And i\'m not advocating only bars to be open - in fact, if Hyd could be a 24 hours city (dunno if Mumbai is one), everything would be open throughout the night - shops, restaurants, movie halls, bowling alleys as you suggest. And as I complained, there is no social life worth mentioning - be it rock concerts, or film festivals or musical / dance performances. By downing the shutters at 11.00pm, are we being less productive? E.g. if a Shoppers Stop or Lifestyle were to be open round the clock, how much additional business it can generate with the same space? How many additional people can be employed as well, to provide for the additional shifts? Doesn\'t it make business sense?

hi justalilunwell... m in mumbai for my studies now( have been here since last 3 yrs)... mumbai isnt a 24 hr city but well it isnt too a dead city in the night
there is much scope of social freak out uptil late in the night atleast till 1am and even after that some specific places do have restraunts and coffee shops etc open till say like 5 am with special permission frm govt... like we have a Cafe Coffee Day here in juhu, mumbai... which is open till 4 am in the morning... i mean it operates in the night time... so considering the fact that CCD was first opened in hyd then recently in mumbai... this calls for some attention... well about lifestyle and shopperstop if the bussiness is goin on well after 10 pm they shud be kept open till atleast 12 man.... its isnt fair.. anyways lets hope for some changes in future...

Arguing that keeping the shops(like shoppers stop etc) open longer will generate more business is not necesssarily correct. It costs the businesses more and only results in diminishing returns. In Hyd, after 11:00am, you go to the dhabha\'s and hang out I guess. You could make the case for more concerts, live comedy shows etc. for diversity, but that doesn\'t still argue for late-late night activities. In Germany, shops close by 7:00pm and it freaks out a lot of visitors, but they have their reasons. Just because, in the US, there\'s 24 hour coffee shops/restaurants and bars are open till 2:00am, it doesn\'t mean it\'s the right thing for us. Culturally, we are quite different...Aping their social behaviours is not necessarily a good thing. In American society, generally a kid starts to be on his own from about 15...majority of kids take college loans and come out of college in HUGE debt...do we do that here? Parents pretty much take care of kids until they graduate from college!

oh...unless it\'s a recent phenomena, i remember spending many late nights(beyond Midnight) at the Hyderabad Boat Club a few years ago! It\'s a place visited by both sexes and doesn\'t create an atmosphere of agression...although, i have seen some pretty inebriated folks being gently escorted to their cars!

hey exhydi... m curious as to why shops in Germany close by 7 pm.. i really wanna know, if u can find out..
the thing is we are not imitating american society... atleast not me.. u can ask justalil about it.. ( he experienced me in other discussion board) well its about us.. we are having more avenues in india.. esp in hyd.. change is not a bad thing at all... infact we shud be constantly developing into a more cosmo society.. For people like me who never want to leave their motherland( i hope so...) i wud like my hyderabad to develop infront of me... i wanna see it grow..( sob sob// senti hogaya lol )
anyways.. dont misinterpret that when i say grow i dont mean only late night life..lol i mean in all aspects..
PEACE OUT..
