Need for Afro-Asian Games...

by Imran Khan » Fri Oct 24, 2003 8:58 pm

Hi people! Well, is it really necessary to host Afro-Asian games? If yes, what is the use of investing crores of rupees in this project? I dunno. What is the use of it? Well, if these crore rupees had been invested to develop the poor sectors, I mean the poor peoples of Hyderabad, it would have been of great use.

Need for Afro-Asian Games...

Today I started in morning from Secunderabad railway station. I got the MMTS train at 1040 hrs. Indeed it was a very pleasant journey. Wonderful scenes of Hussain sagar lake.hardly 10 peoples in the whole coach. I reached Lingampally station at about 1130 hrs. I was expecting ready to start RTC bus. But alas the notice board told me that next bus will be at 1500 hrs. I walked a while. Reached Gache bowli CMC stadium by Tri auto. The stadium was good. But I could hardly see any vibrant crowd. I had the opportunity to see the modern Astro turf stadium built by L&T in a world record time of 2 months. I dont know how much money it had sucked. Then I slowly came to the fully air conditioned , fully covered indoor Boxing arena. The swimming arena had no roof cover. But the events were good. I returned by another triauto only.No frequent city buses to Secunderabad.
I had the same doubt as of you. WHEN SURROUNDING TELENGANA VILLAGE PEOPLE ARE STARVING WHERE DOES THIS BILLIONS OF RUPEES AIMED FOR? Mr Chandrababu is using the blood and sweat of Andhra people for his self fame??? I got some angry the he may lead Andhra people in to permanent dept.LET HIM INCREASE THE TAX MONEY OF RICH MIGRATED BUSINESSMEN OF THE TWIN CITY AND CONDUCT THESE HIGH EXPENDITURE EVENTS. Not with the blood and sweat poor Andhra people. Finally one word my time passed nicely for today.BUT WHERE ARE THE ACCOUNTS? Please all debaters tell me what benifits these games(event) will give to Andhra??

Ok guys it is simple economics. I think Naidu is ingenious for what he is doing. The only solution to getting rid of poverty in our country is forign investment and prolonged growth. You people have to understand that inorder to cater the needs of poor Telanganas, if you will, the government has to make an investment to attract capital, games are one way, Naidus leadership is another.F1 track if a reality will bring in tons of revenue, creates new jobs. Get Real guys, we cannot feed this state from farming. Its time to move on, and we have to bear the cost of attracting new investent, precisely what Naidu is doing. This is in the best interest of the state and the country. Thing big picture, only growth in our state economy can save us, not by subisidzing the already inefficient farming industry. Donot get me wrong , it doesnot mean I dont sympathize with them, but we have to make this transformation. US did it in the 1950s, Europe did it, and even Latin America is doing it. I am just glad that Naidu is smart enough to recognize the problem and act on it

Hey Rational!!!
u r right man . The only way 2 attract the capital are the games , but fr this thing also u need investment , but where this budget is comin frm ..is it WORLD BANK again ,like every one knows that our CM has already debted huge sums .. frm world bank. and v are not in a postion to pay it and that money .inspite of investing in developing the state he is pouring in GAMES, F-1 tracks .what is the use of it . is this a simple ecnomics of our CM or any other!!!!!

ever heard of the saying
\"give a man a fish, he will feed himself or his family for a day. give him a fishing net , he will feed himself and his family for a long time\"

so spending millions of rupees to feed poor is not very effecient, once resources are gone ..they will be back to square one..

as others said before games and other projects will bring jobs to the city..that will feed people for long time...and also trigger other developments
KK.. here is the deal man. I donot undestand why people fret taking loans. Do you know which is the most debted country in the world, US. This again is econmics, if you ask any prevalent macroeconomist, it is wise to take loans ,if you can have a sustained growth, it is infact the first step for prosperity(getting good loans). This is what G8 countries in the world have done it and are doing it. World bank for once is comfortable giving loans to India now and we should take advatage of it. Dont be scared of the debt, here is some more economic logic,(if you say borrow 100 crores say for 4 percent interst rate (imf rates are cheap), and out of that you have 8 percent growth (current growth), you have benfited 8-4, 4 percent. Trust me this is MacroEconomics 101. US borrows trillions of dollars in recessions, why arent they scared?
